And I thought the monkey's name was Chim Chim.

I think it's 'cos Mauricio was the evil monkey thing in Conspiracies

No idea about speed racer - not sure we got that in UK (unless it had a different name)

Sorry, I was trying to make a funny, but it didn't translate well into text. My bad. :o Mauricio was the evil monkey from Conspiracies. I was trying to say you didn't like the show because you are on Jack's side, not the Other side. In retrospect, that was not very funny. Oh, well.

Abe's raised eyebrows caused furrows in his extended forehead. "Five in twelve hours?"
"Oh, and like you've never had a cranky day?"

Its ok. I think it was the rolling eyes that threw me off...I couldn't tell if I was being insulted or ripped on or if I was just a moron...lol. Big Grin

Its been so many years since I've read Conspiracies I didn't pick up on the name and even if I had I would have fought it...The Otherness is my Ally. Big Grin

I know...I'm a loser. Smile

Just came from seeing Speed Racer. Cindy will be studying for finals till midnight so I had some time to kill.

During the first half-hour of the movie, I almost walked out twice, but I finally got used to the visuals: a virtual color-fest. There was serious acting mixed with odd overacting. Then I caught on: It's trying to capture the flavor of the cartoon show. So, after lowering my annoyance level from kill to comfy, the movie became interesting. The bad guys were appropriately bad, the good guys goofily good, and the anti-hero, Racer X, appropriately not bad or good, but dressed funny.

The race scenes were exciting but dizzying rather than suspenseful.

Never was a fan of sixties anime (except for Gigantor), but if you have a couple of hours to kill, Speed Racer is a good flick to catch. But try to avoid paying full price. It's not that good.

P.S. I saw Indiana Jones IV a second time after Speed. As good as the first time I saw it: In order of enjoyment: Indie I, Indie III, Indie IV, and Indie II. I will be adding part IV to my collection when it comes out on dvd.
