Maggers Wrote:Yeah, I enjoyed the other IJ movies well enough, but I never went back and saw them again, even on TV or DVD. One viewing was sufficient.

I'm not rushing out to see this one. It will be around all summer.

Well, in spite of myself, I saw "Indiana Jones" this afternoon. It was OK. It's enjoyable, but I did check my watch a couple of times, and I am having a hard time remembering the film just a scant few hours after seeing it.

It's not painful. It's not bad. It is certainly not the best film ever. It's an OK summer blockbuster film.

Apparently it's now a law that Kate Blanchett appear in every film made. That's OK by me. She was in the IJ film and in a couple of coming attractions, too. She's always fun to watch.

It was also nice to see Karen Allen with an unreconstructed face. So many middle-aged stars now feel their own natural middle-aged faces are not enough. Allen looked lovely and so did Harrision Ford, who is also unreconstructed, as far as I know. There's just way too much plastic surgery out there now, usually with a poor outcome and usually done for no good reason.

Years ago my mother used to say to me... "In this world, Elwood, you can be oh so smart or oh so pleasant."
Well, for years I was smart.
I recommend pleasant.
You may quote me.

I'm looking forward to it, seeing it tomorrow, and I've already factored in Barry's penchant for hyperbole.

Well... it's not terrible. Not good though either. Karen Allen serves no purpose and is wasted completely. Half the jokes fall flat. The first twenty minutes was like watching a greyhound with two broken legs racing for the finish line.

But the biggest travesty of all was all the damn CGI. In the first one we get real spiders and snakes. The second we get real bugs. The third, real rats. And now we're subjected to giant CGI ants? Did they even go to any of the locations like in the original three or did they just do this on set? It sure looked fake to me.

The original title for this movie says it all: Indiana Jones and the Saucer Men from Mars. George Lucas just needs to stop before he ruins anything else. Or maybe he should work on Howard the Duck 2.

It's the whole point Spielberg has been making by only releasing it in non-digital theaters. And I technically belong to the "wait until DVD" generation and I'm this cinematically conservative!

I have additional reasons for not seeing it in theater. The last movie I saw in theater was SERENITY. It too was an action movie, and the explosions were so loud that I had my hands over my ears much of the time -- and the dialog was sometimes so quiet that I couldn't hear what was being said.

I'll wait to see it in a way where I have control of the volume. Wink

And a Tarzan ripoff?

The one positive comment I can give it was that it didn't drag like some other two and half hour movies (i.e. Pirates 1-3).

I gather that at age 66, Harrison Ford is still "eye candy" for the ladies.

I foresee a huge drop between now and next weekend. 95% of the theater were people 30+ and I doubt they'll be seeing it a second time in the theater.

I've seen it twice now.

Me too. I'll wait. The first one was GREAT. The next 2 were O.K. at best. Besides I have on of those HUGE widescreen TV's that take up a whole wall and an amazing suround sound system with Klipsch speakers. Home Theater

I went to go see this today and the 10 am showing was sold out. I am gonna wait now because I hate a full theater.
