OK Keith - your turn

And the spelling of Hel is intentional - it is the name that Rotwang (the mad scientist) calls Futura (the robot) after the name of the woman he loved that left him for Joh Freder

Awesome!

Haven't seen Metropolis yet, myself (blasphemer, I know)...I just never seem to be able to stumble across it. Not watching TV doesn't help.

I await Keith's riddle.

The movie is really good - but I dont think I have ever seen it on TV - and there are alot of versions on DVD - from about 60 min to almost 2 hours depending on the copy so you need to think about witch copy you get.

But the book is better

During an armed conflict, in an oasis of neutrality, a former mercenary and currently a nightclub owner is entrusted with a valuable "item" which will allow the bearer to travel freely. "Item" is highly sought by many, including an ex-lover and ex-lover's spouse.

I was away from the computer since Kieth posted, but that would be my guess as well.

Sharp eye, ImDeranged, and congrats, in advance.

The Book is by Thea Von Harbau (sp?) she also wrote the script and developed the story with Fritz Lang who was her husband

Best place to look for it would be http://www.addall.com I would guess there hasnt been that many editions in english.
