Don't you love laughing and screaming in alternating bursts during a movie? Well, not the untimely laughter of obnoxious fellow moviegoers and the screams of the babies they brought to R-rated movies, but your own enjoyment of a good horror-comedy? And of course, it doesn't have to actually scare you, but as long as it clearly nods to both respective genres.

And please, no "so bad it's funny" movies, either - just movies that accomplish exactly what they set out to do. So in other words, no DOOM.

For me, with only the first three in order, my list would include:
  • Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein
  • Lake Placid
  • Abbott & Costello Meet the Killer (or, to be politically correct, ...Killer Boris Karloff)
  • Ghostbusters
  • Hold That Ghost (yes, another Abbott & Costello...so there)
  • Young Frankenstein

  • Manhattan Murder Mystery
  • Sleepy Hollow
  • Shaun of the Dead
  • An American Werewolf in London

Neat idea Barry. I love Abbott and Costello scary movies. I need to think on this subject without the bother of my phone or beeper. I'll post my list tonight. But expect to see some of the same movies on my list.

I think any list of horror-comedies is incomplete without Dead Alive (Braindead) and the Evil Dead trilogy. Smile

The Abbott and Costello movies will always have a warm place in my heart, so not including them I would say

Army of Darkness (the whole Evil Dead trilogy, but AoD gets my nod as favorite)
Shaun of the Dead
Dog Soldiers (alright, not an outright comedy/horror but the dialogue in that is top notch funny).
Any of the "Messing with Sasquatch" Beef jerky commercials......Big Grin
Young Frankenstein
Ghost busters

Wow, really didn't add anything new to the list, going to have to think about this one a bit more.
