Don't you love laughing and screaming in alternating bursts during a movie? Well, not the untimely laughter of obnoxious fellow moviegoers and the screams of the babies they brought to R-rated movies, but your own enjoyment of a good horror-comedy? And of course, it doesn't
have to actually scare you, but as long as it clearly nods to both respective genres.
And please, no "so bad it's funny" movies, either - just movies that accomplish exactly what they set out to do. So in other words, no
DOOM.
For me, with only the first three in order, my list would include:
- Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein
- Lake Placid
- Abbott & Costello Meet the Killer (or, to be politically correct, ...Killer Boris Karloff)
- Ghostbusters
- Hold That Ghost (yes, another Abbott & Costello...so there)
- Young Frankenstein
- Manhattan Murder Mystery
- Sleepy Hollow
- Shaun of the Dead
- An American Werewolf in London
