I just watched ZARDOZ with Connery, Sean Connery, and boy, did it "blow my mind." It was so dated, it was laughable. When it comes to dated movies (SERPICO comes in at second), Zardoz has got to be number one. Any other votes?

I've never seen ZARDOZ, but I don't understand what you mean by SERPICO being dated. Could you explicate?

When I was teenager, I saw ZARDOZ. Actually, I don't remember that detail anymore. Thing I remembered, it was flying huge face(made by stone?). Someday, I will check it again.

By the way, what is "dated movies"?

Logan's Run and Silent Running are pretty damn dated. SciFi movies often date poorly because of the special effects, hairstyles, advances in modern technology, etc. Those 50s/60s beach movies are pretty dumb, too, and some 80s comedies like Three Men and a Baby. Humor... not... funny... anymore...

Thanks for the question, Kenji Ol' Bean; it never occurred to me that the term "dated" would not be understood by all. Short answer: Remember those movies that had computers that were so big that they filled up a room. Well, that movie would be dated because computers come as small as laptops these days. Also, when a movie uses "slang" that is no longer used, it is dated. For the Bluesman, I didn't mean Serpico; the movie I was thinking of was an Al Pacino flick involving murders in the Gay Community. My brother and his friends have an annual get-together where they watch and make fun of this movie (famous line from this movie: "I can't believe you're not a little bit afraid.") Anyway, the depiction of Gays in this movie is very dated, laughingly so. Gerald Rice, I recall, also had a thing about dated movies needing updates. He hated those old sci-fi flicks with the cheap special effects, cheap, that is, compared to today's standards. For Lisa, even though "Silent Running" is dated, it still brings a tear to my eye when Bruce Dern sacrifices himself alongwith the injured robot in order save the last remnants of greenery left from Earth. Sniff. Let's all go hug a tree together.

The movie you're thinking of is called Cruising.

I thought that the best parts of the movie Rushmore were Max's plays, Serpico and Apocalypse Now.

Wow, this is long answer, Steve. But thank you. Big Grin

I didn't see Cruising, but I saw Silent Running. That's my favorite movie.

There are quite a few apocalyptic movies where the date of the apocalypse has long since passed - I think The Omega Man was set in 1978 or thereabouts.

And of course, both 1984 and 2001: A Space Odyssey are dated in a similar way (1984 is timeless in its own way; and Orwell was really writing about 1948, anyway.

Dated movies.....One of the apocalyptic movies, it's Soylent Green. Yeah, it is! Charlton Heston's last scream, "Soylent green is human!" I couldn't forget the words.
