I'd never watched this program until the current series started and found it to be better than I realised. It's now series 5, wish I'd watched it before.

It's a really good show. Basically, in the beginning Tony was a big-deal psychologist working at a university and a cop asked him for help on a case. He found he really liked working with the police and kept coming back, trying to help, and he ended up with a semi-permanent real job with them, only he gets paid on a contract fee or something.

All of that is immaterial, really. It's basically detective work where he gets into the mind of the bad guy and helps solve the case. But there's a lot of character development along the way, not just a crime.

Recently I saw season3, and "Redemption" was best episode ever! It was thrilling and unexpected.
