The Mad American Wrote:I had always been of the opinion that Col. Tighe was going to be a cylon when it all played out. He was just too good of a plant not to be. I also have thought there is a high probability that the President is a cylon but am not as sold on that idea as I was on the Tighe one(think about it, why would the baby Heras blood cure her cancer? Maybe because it was the cylon part of Hera correcting whatever had gone wrong with that model...I don't know...lol).

The Starbuck storyline could play out to be very interesting because of all the seeds they laid with her being a seer or something as far as finding Earth. Her being some sort of cylon rogue or something I could see.

If you think about it, out of the 4 cylons they supposedly revealed only two are really major players, Chief and Tighe and if Chief is indeed a cylon then that means there are two half cylon/half human babies around. So with 2 of the 4 it would be easy to write them into the cylon side of things but with Tighe and Chief its going to be interesting.

And am I the only one who was in disbeleif that we have to wair until 2008 for any new episodes? Holy shyte thats a long break for a show.

2008 - What's up with that?

I don't know about Tighe, he was pretty much washed up when he and Adama were in dire straits (memory not so good here, but a few seasons back they were, in a flashback, unemployed or stuck in a nowhere job and Adama suggests they go back into the service) So, if not for Adama's friendship and support, Tighe would be out of the picture.

The Chief (enlisted) and Sharon (officer) were dating which in the military setting is inappropriate. Although they were unaware that they were Cylons, they would have been programmed with some sort of subconscious subroutine to not draw attention to themselves.

And who is in charge of the Cylon empire? Why would they need to keep the identities of the final five from the others. And why only five? If they're keeping 5 identities secret, than maybe they're lying to themselves about the number of unknowns there actually are.

Starbuck has no redeeming qualities be be a member of either race. She is probably ver. 1.0 and therefore could not adequately deal with human sensations and emotional feelings and so became the self-absorbed `person she was. She probably received some upgrades with her download.

just a few thoughts

In Battlestar Galactica, the only character I like at all is Starbuck. Sure, the writers have messed with her pretty bad this year and it has been disappointing, but I kept giving them another chance to fix it, and probably even another chance.

People read novels or watch television and movies for lots of reasons. For example, I don't read Repairman Jack novels because I read horror novels, I read them because I like Repairman Jack as a character. Starbuck is the same, only she goes out and shoots things out of space with flamboyance, flair and a certain amount of unbridled enthusiasm.

Having thought about my Starbuck theory for a day, I have to say she his most likely not a Cylon. She is self-absorbed, has no respect for authority and is by no means a team player. The Cylon society could not function with an entire line of Starbucks. If she is a Cylon, they probably only have a single copy online at a time.

I don't know why Adama and Apollo are so attached to her. She is the one responsible for Zack Adama's death. Instead of signing off on his flight training as competent, she should have said something like this to Adama, "Captain, Zack's a regular Pete Rose Junior, I think he and the fleet would be better off with him working on the Admin. side of the house." Fore whatever reason, she was derelict in her duty, she failed as an instructor, cost the fleet a life and a vaulable piece of hardware.

Now THAT's funny, seeing as how I think Pete Rose is one of the greatest singles hitters to ever play the game (though he isn't blessed with the most pleasant personality) and I played left field in high school, which roughly coincided with the glory days of the Big Red Machine, when Pete was playing left field, too -- and much of my family lives in Cincinnati or thereabouts.

I still can't spell Cincinnati right. I have to look it up all the time.

No!!!

I was referring to the real Pete Rose, Junior.

As Trebek might say," Nooo, the son the son!!"

That's too funny. If you look at that first sentence a certain way, it now looks like you are calling Auskar by the name Junior. Big Grin

For the record, I understood your first comment. Only because I knew you HAD to be talking about the son.

Pete Sr. was one of my baseball idols growing up - well really the whole team. I played 2nd base from Little League though high school so Joe Morgan was always a favorite too. We had much in common - short in stature, right handed but hit left handed, played 2nd base, fast, used a small glove - so I'm sure that had something to do with it. Only I had zero power. I was much more of a Pete Rose hitter and tried to emulate his hustle on the field.

OK so back on track for a second . . . I can't make up my mind about Starbuck. Sometimes I like her, sometimes not. Lately I feel that way about a lot of the characters: Adama, Tigh, Roslin. I guess that's good - they aren't one dimensional anyway.

I knew what you meant, goofball. Pete Rose, Jr. may be a fine baseball player, but not at the major league level. Pete Rose is the real deal. I spent my entire young life rooting for this team and especially Pete Rose, so I'm not going to miss a point as unsubtle as that. I still won't root for any national league teams JUST because they aren't Cincinnati.

I could probably STILL do the entire lineup for most years. Sometimes I get a little confused about third base, depending on the year.

Johnny Bench
Tony Perez
Joe Morgan
Davey Concepcion
Dan Driessen
Pete Rose
Cesar Geronimo
Ken Griffey

Then you have the others, depending on the year. George Foster, Lee May, Bobby Tolan, Woody Woodward (a personal favorite), Dennis Menke, Ray Knight, and various pitchers like Clay Carrol, Don Gullet, Gary Nolan, Jack Billingham, Rawly Eastwick, Pedro Borbon, etc. The announcers were Joe Nuxhall and Marty Brenneman (who replaced Al Michaels).

They were fun days to be a Reds fan.

1972 was the year that REALLY made the Reds because they made a HUGE trade with the Astros. That's when we got Morgan, Menke, Geronimo, and I think two others. They were FAST players, for artificial turf and they unloaded some of the older slower players. Although we DID lose to the A's in the World Series that year. I blame it all on Joe Rudi, not because of his hitting, but because he made an amazing catch of a Dennis Menke line drive in the late innings of game two and that added a game to their win column.

Thank god the Angels finally occasionally do well (sometimes). The reason the Angels now wear RED is because the general manager grew up in Cincinnati and thought the Reds always looked cool.

I think Tighe (and Starbuck) are to drunk to be Ccylons

I think there are 13 models, one for each of the colonies

By the way didn't they give everyone a Cylyon blood test in the first season starting with Adama, Rosalan, and Tighe?

That's a mighty fine NL lineup, Auskar. But a similar AL lineup would give them everything they could handle, and that's no lie.
