Now "Rolling Rock" is brewed by "the Latrobe Brewing Company, St. Louis, MO." I heard a commercial for them yesterday--made me want to puke. Anheuser Busch bought out Latrobe Brewing, and is moving (if they haven't already) their operations from Latrobe, PA to New Jersey.
If Ford bought out Ferrari and started building "Ferraris" in Detroit, would one still be worth buying? I think not. You can't polish a turd, and a Budweiser in a Rolling Rock bottle is still a Budweiser. :mad:

Another great American beer goes down the toilet.

What US beer would you recomend, I used to drink Miller Genuine Draft and Michelob. One bar used to sell Mickey's Big Mouth - that was OK.

These days I mainly drink Becks, Staropramen or Guiness.

I drink primarily imports: Newcastle, Becks, St. Pauli Girls, Molson...but if I had to drink domestic I usually turn to the microbrews of which they are thousands and availability depends on where one is at.

Among US beers, you are best served by the micro-brews, which are often only available regionally. I don't know if I could recommend any American macrobrew. Anything with the word Miller, Anheuser, or Coors on the label I automatically exclude, as well as anything with the word "light" or "lite" in its name.

Probably would. Although the design of a Ferrari is somewhat exotic, the quality of Ferrari is little if any better than the quality of a Fnord.

The old adage is: if you want to drive a Ferrari, you have to buy two of them. That way, you have one to drive while the other is in the shop. Big Grin

No wonder Jack switched to the Corona! Smile

My faves are Bearstooth Rasperry Blonde, Bluefin Blonde, (both microbrews) and Guiness Smile

I find Sam Adams very tasty. And despite the nose-turning of certain "sophisticates" among the gang, there...is...nothing...wrong...with...Bud...Wink

Give me Bud in a longneck bottle and I'm fine. Or in a pint glass from a keg. Even a plastic cup (at certain outdoor events). Of course, I'm also fine with Sam Adams or Romer Pils in a bottle of any type (or a glass), or Nickel & Nickel Merlot (any year) in a wine glass. Jack Daniels in a shot glass is okay. Heck, I've been in bars where if you order anything BUT Bud or Jack Daniels you're risking a fight (or sidelong glances at the very least). I've also been poor (like most GI's) and had to figure out what the best-tasting cheap beer was (PBR) so that you could drink in quantity.

PBR = Pabst Blue Ribbon

I once formed a beer-drinking club called "The Steele Brothers"... The club's only purpose was to drink beer and make up appropriate nicknames for the members. Sometimes we listened to music, too.

As Grandpa told me, Auskar, "Son, any cold beer is a good beer. If you get a buyback from the barkeep, well, now, that's a =damn= fine beer!" And nobody ever called Grandpa a liar. Well, that =one= clown did =one= time. His broken arms eventually healed, but he never did get his memory back.:eek:

Part of being a good beer drinker is to not get all caught up in the hoity-toity.
