Saw this film on Saturday. Wow.

Based on the book by Patrick Suskind (there's an umlout in there somewhere), it is directed by the guy who did Run Lola Run. He truly captured the essence of smell.

An intriguing tale that is like nothing you've seen before, and put up on the screen with some dazzling visuals (the Grass setting is amazing).

Well acted by all involved (Hoffman and Rickman are dependable as always), the anti-hero (our murderer) is played beautifully, so even though his crimes are deplorable you still empathise with him. And the women he becomes obsessed by are gorgeous, you can smell how sweet they must be to him. Or maybe I just have a thing for red heads (calm down Lisa and Maggers Smile).

I saw it with someone who read the book beforehand, they enjoyed the film, said it stayed close to the book, but the book had more in it. Often the case.

I'm reading the book now and enjoying it. Some things are different from the film, but remain intriguing.

Check it out.

Dave, I read the book long ago and loved it. The premise is truly dastardly but sublime in its own perverted way. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie.

And it's true about natural redheads, you know, we do smell different. Our scent is unique, and I'm not kidding. Always glad to know we redheads have a fan in you, Dave. Big Grin

Reading is freedom.
The mind soars, no earthly cares,
no limitations.

Years ago my mother used to say to me... "In this world, Elwood, you can be oh so smart or oh so pleasant."
Well, for years I was smart.
I recommend pleasant.
