I selected best 10 movies in 2006.(Theatrical release only)

1, Letters from Iwo Jima/Flags of Our Fathers

2, Crash

3, Children of Men

4, Histry of Violence

5, Hotel Rwanda

6, V for Vendetta

7, The Da Vinci Code

8, Good Night and Good Luck

9, The Exorcism of Emily Rose

10, MI:III

Some of them were made in 2005, but they were released in 2006 in Japan.

"Letters from Iwo Jima" and "Flags of Our Fathers" were made by different point of view, but I thought they were same movies, so I picked two movies in 1st ranking.

This year, a lot of movies were political movies/violence movies. Hotel Rwanda, Good night and Good luck, Munich, Syriana, The Constant Gardener, V for Vendetta....etc. So generally movies of 2006 had dark mood. But they were good.

Worst movies in 2006

1, Alone on the Dark
2, BloodRayne
3, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning
4, Rose in Tideland
5, Proof

I saw only three movies this year.

V for Vendetta -- which I thought was great.
Cars -- which was cute.
The Davinci Code -- which I thought of as an interesting detective story.

Of the movies in Kenji's Top Ten, I've only seen...
  • Crash - a good movie.
  • History of Violence - a good start to a movie with a trite and typical ending.
  • V for Vendetta - a movie with high hopes that floundered badly.
  • The DaVinci Code - Not as interesting on the screen.
  • The exorcism of Emily Rose - Uninteresting.
  • Mission Impossible III - My memory of it is vague, but I think I liked it and I think it was a little long.

I don't know if I can pick a Top Ten for this year. Are we talking about most interesting, exciting movies? Best dramatic movies?

Movies that should be considered...?
  • Boynton Beach Club
  • Little Miss Sunshine
  • Dead Man's Chest
  • The Devil Wears Prada
  • Thank You For Smoking
  • The Illusionist
  • Superman Returns
  • A Prairie Home Companion
  • X-Men: The Last Stand
  • ...and others.

This year, I saw "Scanner Darkly", and it was only one animation movie. I have quite enough of Pixar/Disney except Shrek series.....
