As with some of my other favourite movies, Legend was released in two versions -- a shorter cut for the North American market with a soundtrack by Jerry Goldsmith, and a longer cut for the rest of us on this planet, with a soundtrack by the German band Tangerine Dream.
I reckon the so-called "European" cut is far superior, and is the cut that Ridley himself wanted. I kinda suspect, though, that the one you're going to get is the shorter American version.
Mind you, I still think that it's a movie worth watching, but be warned that some people really didn't like it. (I personally think they just didn't get it. I think the flick has the more Old World approach to fairy tales -- darker and much thornier -- as an example, think of the difference between the original Mary Poppins books by P.L. Travers, and the movie version Walt Disney concocted. Whether the original appeals is very much a matter of personal taste.)

The US cut has the Tangerine Dream score, and the longer European cut has the Jerry Goldsmith score.
It would just figure, wouldn't it, that I prefer the longer cut of the movie but the score that goes with the shorter cut. Rarely satisfied, me.
