Quite often, I have no idea of what you're getting at.

KRW Wrote:Actually a good point. They Are only remaking movies that have done well. It pretty much makes for a sure fired hit. Somewhere I've heard Hollywood and the music biz is low on ideas, could it be true? If so, they don't know Jack yet!

Movies or music, I've always liked the original best.

And you're right . . . they don't know JACK! (In both meanings of the phrase.)

Michael Berryman is the guy. http://www.xofacto.com/justin025/hills.jpg

I've been saying that for years. Take something that could have been good and remake it. The only reason I can see to remake a classic is to use modern technology to improve the look. This is why I thought Kong worked, it didn't tamper with the original's basic story but updated its look.

I see this as more of a ticket buyers problem than an indictment of the movie makers. These movies get made because they put butts in seats, if not brains.

There are a lot (ahem) of really great stories that are crying to be made into movies.

That's right! Think about remake version "The Omen". I really like original. Gregory Peck, Lee Remick...they were great actors and actress. On the other hand, in remake version, they are Liev Schreiber and Julia Stiles! Unbelievable.....totally miscasting! Rolleyes Only one good casting is Mia Farrow as Mrs.Baylock. Jeez, she looks very scary nanny...

But in this remake version, most important factor's lacking. The music is not Jerry Goldsmith. The Omen without Jerry Goldsmith's music...worthless!

And another remake version, Poseidon. I think already James Cameron did it in Titanic. I saw Poseidon's trailer, but this looks like another Titanic.

I like original too. Remake was not bad. Because plot is totally same stuff. The man with chainsaw try to kill hippies.....

I prefer "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2". Dennis Hopper as Lieutenant 'Lefty' Enright was wild and crazy guy! Big Grin

I just saw the trailer to "The Pink Panther" it looks terrible. Steve Martin seems to be playing the role like he were Updike in the original (and best) "Kolckak: The Night Stalker"

The character Clouseau (spelling?) was a Peter Sellers/Blake Edwards creation. It cannot otherwise be done. It is not a role subject to interpretation like Hamlet or Captain Ahab. Who the heck does Mr. Martin think he is? This knocks him down a few pegs IMO.

Impossible, Neotank! What idea-void director could even consider such a blasphemy? Rolleyes Oh... Van Sant, did you say?
