Hi,

Has anybody from the UK found a way to get 'The Long Way Home'?

I've tried talking to amazon.co.uk about it, explaining that it was only available from amazon.com to U.S. citizens, and that it was a downloadable e-book, etc. and they informed me first that they could get it, then told me they didn't have it in stock?!!

I've now explained to them what an e-book is but they still can't get it.

There must be another way! Please! There must!! Help!!! I need an RJ story to read!

Maybe their meaning of stock means that they don't have a copy of the file on their computer network. They'll have to order it for you. Amazon US will have to copy it to a floppy disc and ship via ocean freight, which could take 6-8 weeks. Then Amazon UK will have stock and be able to sell it to you for USD $0.49 (What's the conversion?).

No, seriously- that's really stupid and makes no sense. Good luck in dealing with the stupidity.

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. ... The piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.

Thanks Jimbo. I'll keep trying. Eventually I'll get it - somehow.

Nice to know I'm not the only one from Sunny England that's being denied this story.
Makes no sense that we can't simply log onto .com and buy it from there.
Grrrrr!

Can I ask how come you can't log onto .com to purchase it?

You can log on, and even get as far as the checkout, but it then tells you that the item was removed, and to go to Amazon.co.uk if you want it.

Which .co.uk doesn't have yet...

Sad

Did you manage to get it Flinx? Curious if it is just a UK problem or a non-US problem.

I got as far as the checkout too, but then I got a message telling me that amazon.com does not accept payment for e-books from European countries.

Chevron,
I sent you a PM about TLWH. Take a look.

I recommend pleasant.

Looks like it is a UK problem as I was able to buy it with no problem except that I don't like e-books.
It will be interesting to see what it finally costs me. Amazon should allow it to be purchased with other items instead of separately.

I was able to buy it from Amazon.com here in Ireland - maybe because, although the IP is Irish, I've got my US address on their file as well as the Irish address.

Can you get a US address to use as the "ship to"?
