I (finally) found copies of all of the Adversary Cycle books (and spent less than $100 to get them all in hardbacks in great condition), and sat down to read the first of my last two aquisitions, Reprisal.
After getting to the part in the book where 'Little Jimmy' reveals himself to be the probable inspiration for Stewie from Family Guy ("I'm hungry, woman. Fetch me something to eat!"), I decided it was time for bed, what with having to work in the morning and all.
I was awakened, rudely, a few hours later when the phone started ringing. Mind you, it didn't ring normally. No, this time it was one, steady, continuous ring...
I was disappointed, though. No voices pleading for help or anything of the kind. Only lots of static (though the static itself was fairly bizarre sounding, with lots of shifting bass and odd noises in and behind it).
I did find it rather hard to get back to sleep, though. :p
