A reader named Josephine wrote this morning and quoted one of Kusum's lines from The Tomb. In 25+ years she's the first to mention it and identify the film from which I culled it.

"...I dislike to be touched. An Eastern prejudice."

She even knew the name of the character in the film. I'm amazed. I thought no one would spot that. Kudos to her.

No fair Googling the line, because you'll find it.

Why do I associate Boris Karloff's slight lisp with that? Is it from THE MUMMY? I saw that movie with my brothers over and over again on Channel 9 Metromedia TV back in the '60's on their "movie of the week." They'd play the same movie for a week right after school. It was great. I also remember loving "The Crawling Eye."

Yippee! I seldom get these sorts of questions right. It's just that I know that dialogue so well from so long ago having watched THE MUMMY over and over and over and over, as only kids can do. I often find myself chanting "Ankhsunaaaaaaahmun, Anksunaaaaaaahmum," hearing Boris' voice in my head, while I'm waiting for a train, though I have no idea why I do that.

Can't say I have any idea either. Whatever the connection, it's too deep for me to figure out. But then again, "Don't Fear the Reaper" plays constantly in my head, over and over and over........ Sad
