The Grand Adversary Cycle Wikipedia Project - Silverfish - 05-20-2008 I just created an account at Wiki. I didn't realize I would have to learn a whole new language (wiki-markup) to be able to contribute to this project. I was thinking standard HTML. This is going to take more time than I originally thought. Hmm.. Stephanie The Grand Adversary Cycle Wikipedia Project - Miskatonic & Gin - 05-21-2008 This is definitely a long term project that will need to be really organized if we want to see it succeed. We need a strong core group of people who can act as oversears of the project and have the time to devote to it. Then we need to take very small steps. I recommend a Demonsong entry followed by The Keep. Focus on that and go from there. I'm willing to write and edit anything to help out with the cause. Just give me direction. This is a massive undertaking so somebody needs to step up and organize. Interesting gems uncovered in research, thus far: Gem 1) In reviewing "Demonsong" for the Wiki, I realized that Rasalom's name there is Rosalam...I read the whole story last year and that didn't click for me...not even once. The name Rosalam has never appeared on this board...not even once...according to the Search feature. Gem 2) In searching past threads to see if Rosalam was ever mentioned, a search of Demonsong found the 2004 thread about the Compendium that APhew and Flyboy707 were creating. APhew ended that thread after 127 posts, saying that he was looking to find time to put all the links between FPW stories together...and then nothing, ever again. Does anyone know what happened to his efforts? -Wapitikev The Grand Adversary Cycle Wikipedia Project - Alvin Fox - 05-22-2008 Wapitikev Wrote:In reviewing "Demonsong" for the Wiki, I realized that Rasalom's name there is Rosalam...I read the whole story last year and that didn't click for me...not even once. What are you reading Demonsong from? The Heroic Fantasy anthology or the Gauntlet chapbook? Paging through the Gauntlet chapbook I'm only seeing 'Rasalom'. Is there an original and prefered version of Demonsong like The Tomb/ Rakoshi? Same story but slightly tweaked? Maybe it was changed because Rosalam backwards sounds like a bad dinosaur. If it has been corrected since, then we should use the corrected version and mention the other in the Anagrams for Rasalom section as an interesting note. -Wapitikev The Grand Adversary Cycle Wikipedia Project - Marc - 05-22-2008 Wapitikev Wrote:Gem 2) In searching past threads to see if Rosalam was ever mentioned, a search of Demonsong found the 2004 thread about the Compendium that APhew and Flyboy707 were creating. The compendium is covered in the FAQ: There have been several pushes for a complete and total guide to all of Paul's stories. And every time it fizzles out because people quickly realize what a huge undertaking it will be. Mike (Aphew) is a busy guy with a family and in recent years his schedule has become even more busy so the compendium stalled. Others were going to pick up where he left off but it has yet to go anywhere. This is not to discourage anyone from trying. I've P.O.ed The Man! FPW: so you would rather we use the Gauntlet edition as canon? We can just list the anagram that appears in the original DAW edition as an interesting and very cool accident that was corrected in later editions. Hopefully this Wiki-project uncovers more of these uber-interesting little details...maybe, like Jack's "no more coincidences", we can earn our own: "no more secrets." (unless the fellas who wrote Sneakers object on copyright grounds). ...meaning that FPW will have to make more up. Heh. -Wapitikev The Grand Adversary Cycle Wikipedia Project - Wapitikev - 05-22-2008 Marc B. Wrote:The compendium is covered in the FAQ: Thanx, Marc. I had forgotten that part of the FAQ, even though I must have read it only a month or so ago. Hmmn. To do a book of the whole GU would be even more difficult than just the AC Wiki project discussed in this thread...I wish Mike even more luck than he already has. He'll need it...along with a few years of free time. -Wapitikev |
