Bloodline **SPOILERS** - SSR777 - 09-29-2007 I finished it last Sunday. Bloodline I would have to say is my second favorite, with Conspiaracies being my fav. Spoilers for Bloodline and Reprisal below Maybe it was just me but I felt a little sad when Bolton killed Christy. I would of liked Christy and Dawn to have made up and all that happy ending jazz but thats just how I am. When Jack killed Bolton you have no idea how happy I was. I hope he does something similar too Hank. And Ral...I can't wait till he dies. I've read All of the Adversary Cycle save Nightworld. So I got the Jonah reference. My speculation would be that he knew Ral was going to adventually off him so he started doing the pure bloodline thing to over throw Ral and set himself up as The One. I only think that though because if I remeber correctly Jonah started to suspect Ral was up to something and started to try and interfere, shortly after thats when the elevator 'accident' happend. I think Ral probably learned of the Plan and has decided to use it to his own advantage. That's just my speculation though and I'm sure whatever Paul comes up with will blow my mind away, as it always does. A question to all of you: I've been fighting with my self if I want to buy the revised version of Nightworld or wait until its rereleased to the public after the last RJ novel. So should I hold off and have some patience or buy it and read the goodness that is sure to be Nightworld? Bloodline **SPOILERS** - Kenji - 09-29-2007 Dr. Trilobite Wrote:I can sympathize with that, since Jack would probably be a little more at home in a standard thriller series, but I think the genre-mixing gives it a unique flavor. And I must take issue with the idea of downplaying the horror for the sake of winning readers. I agree with you, Dr. Trilobite. Horror + Action + Thriller + Romance....I like mixed genre. Bloodline **SPOILERS** - ButchM - 10-11-2007 Bloodline and Reprisal spoiler If I remember right the editor tried to edit out the scenes where Jack beats down the two wanna-be crips in the subway picking on the pregnant woman, and the bar scene where Jack talks the drunken tough guy into attacking Bolton, instead of fighting Jack. Let me say, I am very glad that the bar scene was left in. This was one of the best parts of the book. First, Jack's quick thinking to use a very bad looking situation, into one to his benefit was impressive. I also just love the humor in that scene. "Get that there varmint, Sam." had me laughing out load. Of course I can't wait for the next one with all the loose storylines of Hank and the Q'qr (easily pronounced kicker, or else something extremely similar), the Compendium, and Rasalom's abduction of Dawn. I believe that the Plan of Jonah was contrary to the Plan of Rasalom. Jonah was killed 'for believing he was the One, instead of there to protect the One' of something very similar comes to mind from the Reprisal. Of course Rasalom will try to use the unborn child to further his cause. I'm one of those who is going to wait for the end of the RJ books, before reading the revised Nightworld. Again, a great book. Thanks for the effort, and the outstanding results. Also a pat on the back for all the editors/proofreaders. I usually always find a typo or two, and I don't think I saw any while reading Bloodline. I found a way to restore them. [/SIZE] Bloodline **SPOILERS** - GeraldRice - 10-11-2007 On page 228 it reads: But Jeremy knew different. He knew all about pregnancy tests. He'd used them before, lots of them. But that had been pre-Creighton. But way back on 146 it seems Jeremy shouldn't know that much about pregnancy tests from this section: He didn't know how experienced she was--not too very, from the look of her--but he knew he wasn't. Damn near all his adult life without a woman. He wanted to come on as more experienced than her, but to do that he had to get some experience. So he'd hired hookers and had them teach him... Will this seem less contradictory once I get further in the novel? Bloodline **SPOILERS** - webby - 10-13-2007 SPOILERS for BLOODLINE and REPRISAL * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * I just re-read Reprisal and I have changed my earlier opinion on what Jonah was up to with "The Plan". In Reprisal, after Jonah has his "accident" in the elevator shaft, young "Jimmy" tells Carol that Jonah made a mistake... "He thought he could be me", Jimmy says. So now I think that Jonah got to thinking over the years about trying to do what Rasalom did in taking over the infant Jim Stevens' body - but Jonah figured he would need a special "vessel" for that to work, hence, "The Plan". Another thing that occurs to me, as I am re-reading Bloodline right now, is that some of the things the Kickers are about, like not letting others take advantage, being "dissimilated", etc., sound a LOT like the kinds of things "Rafe" was making Lisl believe in Reprisal- the whole thing about "Primes" and everyone else. Could that be why Abe's old friend Prof. Buhmann started speaking only numbers that were prime numbers multiplied by seven after seeing the Q'Qr in the Compendium and having a stroke? Hmmmm.... |
