Has anyone run into this group in fiction, used in the same way, in other books? I'd never heard of them till HARBINGERS, so I was surprised to see them turn up as a major force in HAVOC just a year or so later.

Jerry Pournelle (I think) has a science fiction novel titled, Janissaries. I've read it, but it was a very long time ago when Pournelle was one of my favorite authors.

I'll sad when the RJ books come to an end, as they must, but I won't complain. FPW's books are so rich they can be read again and again. I've read many of them 2 or 3 times already.
Besides, we've all got young Jack to look forward to!

It's been a long time since I read the Adversary Cycle, so my memory is sketchy. Wasn't there a young child, a young boy, a toddler, who either didn't speak or who saw things? Did he have The Touch? Was he just in THE TOUCH or was he also in NIGHTWORLD? I have a memory of the child and his mother traveling to some place on Long Island, most likely Monroe, as the world is falling apart, so I guess it must be in NIGHTWORLD. Chew wasps figured in the scene as did the doctor (now in a wheelchair) from THE TOUCH. Geez, guess I have to read the AC again, and soon. But I was wondering if it could be Dawn's child, yet the age of the toddler doesn't fit. Mostly I remember that the child was very, very special in some way. As I said, I think, if I remember correctly, the child could see things, much as Jonah could.

I put this question to Ken, and I'll ask others on the board and Paul, himself. I haven't purchased the revised Adversary Cycle. Are the revisions great enough that I should buy the new books, or can I re-read THE TOUCH, REBORN, REPRISAL and NIGHTWORLD versions I have and not miss anything crucial?

I'm pretty sure that only NIGHTWORLD was revised significantly - you'll definitely want a copy of that. Just don't read it yet if you want to save a few suprises for yourself in the still-to-come RJ books.

I have to admit that there is nothing quite like reading one of
Paul's excellent Repairman Jack novels, and then reading from
beginning to end through one of these book threads. The closest
experience would have to be when I first read an english
translation of Dante's "Inferno," and followed that up by
reading the official Cliff Notes version of the book...
It turns into an experience with an equal mix of 1) joy for all
the highlighted points that you had picked up on while
reading the original, and 2) downright chagrin at the number
of "insider" story/plot elements that you had missed
outright.
And in the end, I give the "overall" experience, the thumbs up,
the serious high-five, and FIVE out of five cans of diet cherry
vanilla Dr. Pepper.

I see the series running 16-17 books tops (not counting the 3 YAs). I'm finishing #12 now and there's about 13 months of internal time till NIGHTWORLD. I should be done with the writing around 2012.
Here's the dilemma: when to have Tor reprint The Touch, Reborn, Reprisal and Nightworld?
Sticking the first two out there as mass market reprints won't be a problem, but the last RJ novel falls between Reprisal and Nightworld. When to time the reprints of those? [/SIZE]

I have no answer to your publishing dilemma; it fries my brain to consider the end of RJ books.
My question to you, now, is what will YOU do after 2012?
We HAVE to have new FPW books. We NEED you, Paul. We're FPW junkies and we need our fix. Look what you've spawned!
