LOST... the 4th season - Maggers - 02-08-2008

ccosborne3 Wrote:Has anyone noticed how great the musical score to Lost is?

Not only is the music exceptional and spot on, but the sound of LOST is out of this world.

In the first episode of the 4th season, as I watched Hurley searching for Sawyer and the rest of the group that had gotten ahead of him, I heard jungle sounds. Not surprising, Hurley was deep in the jungle. But Hurley was making his way towards Jacob's cabin, and the sounds I heard were very similar to the flying monkeys in the WIZARD OF OZ, as the Scarecrow, Lion and Tin Man put themselves together again in the haunted forest to go in search of the Wicked Witch's castle.

I've watched that episode 3 or 4 times now, and I'm still struck by how the wind comes up as Hurley gets nearer the cabin and the flying monkey sounds follow him. Those flying monkey sounds aren't anywhere else, I don't think. I love this show for a million reasons like that.

I didn't think of THE HAUNTED AIR either, but the themes of not-quite-on-the-level psychics makes that scene in LOST akin to THE HAUNTED AIR, somewhat.

But how cool is it for the Repairman Jack series to be publicly connected, however loosely, to LOST. Bet you get a lot of new readers out of that, and maybe even the producers and writers will bring an RJ novel into their exotic mix.

Here's my thinking, which could always be wrong when we're dealing with LOST.

1) Rose met Bernard later in life, when she had a terminal illness. I'm pretty sure they married just a couple of years ago. I don't believe they had children in those couple of years, and if they had, the child wouldn't be a doctor yet.

2) The doctor to whom the pop up referred simply had "the same last name as the dentist," Bernard.

3) I can't assume it's their son. I inferred from that the doctor would be Bernard's brother or other relation, since Bernard told Rose when they met that he'd never been married. I know you can have children out of wedlock, but somehow, I doubt that would have happened with Bernard. Wink

LOL! I totally forgot about the Rose/Bernard history. Hmm...now I'm really curious.

Last night's episode was awesome. It seemed to fly by.

I was all giddy about this season, then John reminded me there are only 4 more new episodes of Lost left because of the writer's strike.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

Even if RJ isn't officially connected to LOST, it just confirms that there is a solid common denominator between LOST fans and Jack Fans. It's one big, mostly happy family.

With Miles' ability to speak to the dead, do you think he'll ever communicate with Nicki and Paolo and tell the Island gang how they really died, as well as all the rest of the folks who've been killed on the Island? It seems Miles needs to be in proximity to the spirit of the dead (the kid in the California bedroom) or their body (Naomi). It will be very interesting to see how Miles fits into that happy Island gang.

I got Season 1 and 2 from my XO tonight.

Now I just have to hook up my new TV (woohoo) and my DVD player so I can get caught up.

Did they ever solve the mystery of the monster? I missed some shows via work.

Not yet. Locke asked Ben that very question, what is the monster, last episode just before he was going to shoot him. Ben said the didn't know. But we know that Ben lies like a rug.

Also, just like Harold Perrineau (Michael) has been listed as a member of the cast and he hasn't been in the show yet this season, so is Fisher Stevens who hasn't appeared yet but who I think is the voice of Minkowski, the guy on the other end of the freighter's phone. I think I'm right. The actor will show up in episodes to come, I suspect.
