Great - senior again!
Biggles - there's a seller on ABE advertising a book by FPW but 'as FW Paul' from 1968:

Wilson, F. Paul
THE LAY OF THE LAND
Lancer, 1969 Soft Cover. No Jacket. First Ed. First paperback ed. Near fine condition, very slight over all wear, very slight spine crease, very small closed tear at bottom edge of front cover. As by F. W. Paul. The photographic cover features artist Frank Frazetta as the male model in the photo.
Bookseller Inventory #15400

I did a bit more research and it turns out it's a pseudonym of Paul W Fairman - or mebbe this is what Effster wants us to think and this Fairman chappie is really a Bachman type character Wink

Question for FPW re: pseudonym - fpw - 05-19-2005

Nope, not me. I've written as Colin Andrews and Mary Elizabeth Murphy. That's it.

How do you pick your pseudonyms.

Question for FPW re: pseudonym - Maggers - 05-20-2005

Mary Elizabeth Murphy is Mrs. F. Paul Wilson.

I have a copy of "Virgin" signed by both MEM and FPW!

Question for FPW re: pseudonym - Scott Miller - 05-20-2005

Not to step on any toes, but he picked Andrews for the letter A so his books could be found at the front of sections as opposed to the ends.

Maggers Wrote:Mary Elizabeth Murphy is Mrs. F. Paul Wilson.

And if I'm not mistaken, the subject matter from Virgin is so radically different from his other material at the time, that he felt a pseudonym was the only way to get it published.

Great reason! I hate having to crouch way down, nearly to floor level, to find FPW's books.

Scott, if you haven't read "Virgin" check it out. It's really good. Very enjoyable. And I could swear that the church on the Lower East Side that figures prominently in "Virgin" also has a place somewhere else in FPW's world, like maybe "Crisscross."
