A Scanner Darkly - Kenji - 03-09-2005 Philip K. Dick's novel, "A Scanner Darkly". A long time ago, I read this book. It was very complex to me. I hope it's easy to understand that story in this movie version......but, it's animation! When is this movie's release ? http://www.apple.com/trailers/warner_independent_pictures/a_scanner_darkly.html A Scanner Darkly - Marc - 03-09-2005 I saw this preview a few weeks ago. Looks like Linklater is advancing his Waking Life technique. Don't know of an exact release date but I'll be in line for this one. Looks amazing. He is becoming two people. One of the persons is a undercover cop. The other person is a junkie, and eventually he starts investigating himself. I know nothing about this film nor did I read the book, and I'll be disappointed if what you've written is, in essence, a spoiler. Hope it's not that. The real gist of the book is you KNOW what is going on, you just can't believe how ridiculous it gets. The back of the book reads: Cops and criminals have always been interdependent, but no novel has explored that perverse symbiosis more powerfully than A Scanner Darkly. Bob Arctor is a dealer of the lethally addictive drug called Substance D. Fred is the police agent assigned to tail and eventually bust him. To do so, he has taken on the identity of a drug dealer named Bob Arctor. And since Sunstance D - which Arctor takes in mammoth doses - gradually splits the user's brain into two distinct, combative entities, Fred doesn't realize that he is narcing on himself. See? No spoiler. A Scanner Darkly - Maggers - 03-11-2005 law dawg Wrote:No, that is pretty much discussed on the back jacket of the book.
