Kitchen implements & RJ - Peter - 04-27-2004 My wife has just finished Gateways (my turn now!) and having become quite a fan of Jack was aghast that he was unable to work out how to use a French Press (we call them cafetierres over here) without resorting to the internet. This has quite shaken her faith in him! So, is Jack not as bright as he could be, or just inept in the kitchen? Discuss.... This has quite shaken her faith in him! A French press can be daunting if you've never used one. How much coffee? How much water? How long do you let it sit? To stir or not to stir? I use one every day but I keep asking myself, Is it worth all the fuss? Must be. I haven't smashed it against the wall. (Yet.) This has quite shaken her faith in him! I have heard of the French Press . . . key word being heard. I have also heard that using one is a "gluteoalgia" . . . or is that "gluteodynia?" I am not inept in the kitchen although many of the recipe's I read sound like science fiction. (After I finish reading them I think to myself, "Yeah, like THAT'S going to happen.") A man living alone doesn't do much in the way of fancy cooking unless he has little else to do. Which explains Jack. The fact that it's French 'splains it all. Ken V. |
