Looney Tunes: Back in Action - fpw - 12-24-2004 This looked awful on the trailers, but I rented it out of loyalty to Daffy and Bugs. Not bad. I especially liked the Area 52 sequence which brought back a lot of old friends. I recognized the Metaluna mutant from This Island Earth, the Man from Planet X, a triffid, a Dalek, a pod-carrying Kevin McCarthy (in b&w, no less), Robbie the Robot, Ro-Man, Marvin the Martian (of course), and apropos to a previous topic, one of the Fiends without a Face. In fact, Area 52 made movie for me. Looney Tunes: Back in Action - Gerald Rice - 12-24-2004 fpw Wrote:This looked awful on the trailers, but I rented it out of loyalty to Daffy and Bugs. Is that the one with Brendan Fraser? He does for action movies what Fred Willard is to comedy. Every time I see that man I get leukemia of the funny bone. Being the DOCTOR WHO nut that I am, I got this today specifically to see the Daleks, and I was not disappointed! I got multiple Daleks, full action, and vocalization matching their traditional lines! (WB has been partnered with BBC America to distribute DOCTOR WHO on DVD in the U.S., so it makes sense.) The film was surprisingly better than I thought it would be, and you are right that Area 52 really makes the film, with all its familiar characters. Even with the Dalek connection for me, it was Kevin McCarthy in black and white that really put it over the top! What a hoot! My wife and I really laughed when we saw him! Sean |
