Cabin in the Woods - Tony H - 04-17-2012

Joss whedon is on top of his game with Cabin in the Woods. A love letter to the genre that takes typical horror movie tropes and turns them on their ear.

There are plenty of red herrings, twists and turns, and an ending that is so over the top that for the final 15 minutes my jaw was on the floor.

It's not scary at all, which is kind of a bummer, but it is a hell of a lot of fun and entertaining.

I am not going to get into a full-fledged review because the less you know about the film going in, the more surprised you will be.

So it is worth watching?

I agree with everything Tony said, a really fun thrill ride of a movie, and the less you know going in the better.

So yes, well worth watching.

Saw it over the weekend. As my friend said "it's wack". I so did not see that coming, at all. I knew from the reviews that there was a twist but damn...

I just saw this movie this last Saturday, and have to admit I really liked it. It's too bad they couldn't have left the 'twist' material out of the previews for an even bigger surprise to the fans (similiar to how they did with The Sixth Sense), but then again if they did that folks would probably just dismiss it as being another typical slasher flick and not go see it.

Just think if you wouldn't have already known about the bird flying into the barrier, which was shown in the previews. As it was it still made me jump out of my chair
-along with my popcorn.
:pop2:

I enjoyed the hell out of it. I'd heard it was twisty so I avoided reviews and trailers and went in clueless. The best way to see it. Not scary, but definitely gory.

You know, The Raven was a pretty damn fun time at the movies as well, especially for Edgar Allen Poe fans and it shared a few thematic elements with Cabin in the Woods, especially the idea of the audience/fans as the true monsters.
