How about this guy...

Josh Holloway. He's got great range as an actor - he is convincing from the sweetest most tender scenes to the most chillingly violent. In fact, it was seeing him connect to that place of deep, dark rage that convinced me he would be perfect for RJ.

I've heard the phrase "if looks could kill" a million times, but I'm not sure I ever really saw it until I saw this:

It's much better in action: http://abc.go.com/watch/clip/lost/SH006723620000/PL5520985/VD5533870/quick-cuts (spoiler alert: this is a "Previously on Lost" clip from season 6)

The only potential drawback I can see is that Holloway in real life is about 4 years older than Repairman Jack is in the books. Now, if Beacon would get off their butts and make a movie, it's a non-issue. The longer they wait, though, the more great possibilities we lose.

Webby, you just want LOST to continue on. Sawyer as Jack? Let it go! Big Grin

:p

Hahahahaha! I can't believe I gave you such an obvious opening to turn that back around on me! Hahahahahahaha!

Ok, yeah, I'm missing Lost, but I've moved on - really I have. This idea just got in my head and wouldn't leave so I finally posted it.

Don't you think Holloway could pull it off? I think he could do it. Really, really well. Color is hair an average brown, give him an average-guy haircut and there you go!

Respectfully, I think that guy is awful. His acting range goes from A and about halfway to B. Poor man's Viggo

Maybe I just have a different perspective because I watched the entire Lost series twice in the last six months. I definitely saw a lot more talent than that. From pretty much the entire cast, really, but that's beside the point.

Oh well, I suppose anybody who might be good for the part right now will be better suited to play Abe by the time Beacon ever gets busy actually making a Repairman Jack movie. Rolleyes

I still think he would've made a good Gambit.

At one time (years ago) FPW thought Viggo Mortensen would be good for the part of RJ.

And is his acting range as narrow as you say because he actually has a very narrow range, or could it be that the characters he has portrayed don't show how broad his real acting range actually is?

Kind of like Lee Marvin; for decades he played tough guys, but as a sort of fluke he got a comedy role which earned him the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.

I reckon Eric Bana would be OK, if someone would teach him how to do an American accent properly

I agree, Webby. When first viewed, I thought Josh Holloway was perhaps, along with Claire, the weakest of the actors. I've since changed my mind after having watched the entire show at least 15 times for Seasons 1-5 and about 5 times for Season 6. Yeah, GEEK, LOSER, LOSTIE! I know, and I'm not ashamed of it. Big Grin

Holloway has more acting chops than I originally thought. But I don't see him as Jack. Too noticeable on a New York City street. He is someone whom EVERYONE would notice. He's strikingly handsome, a standout in a crowd.

Of course, makeup can work wonders, but I still think he's not right for Jack.

I agree with you here Maggers. Sorry Webby but nothing against Holloway as an actor I just think he is too purty to be Jack. Maybe that is just my own male insecurities rearing their ugly head but there it is. Big Grin

I still like Timothy Olyphant for Jack although I don't see that happening because by the time the movie is made Olyphant will be in his 70s.
