Completing my RJ HC collection.... - arm1978 - 02-11-2010

OK. I just finished ordering Haunted Air and By the Sword.... all I need now is Legacies.

And.... Finally... will own a copy (not all signed first-editions) of every RJ hardcover printed! I am as excited as the day I got the Nintendo with the Power Pad as a young kid (i know, I am young).

My wife thinks its cute. They are the only books I collect and dust off once a month!

And FPW, I hope to have the chance to have you sign THE LOT OF THEM at one of your appearances in Florida this spring.

For a guy supporting a wife and three young boys (all future RJ fans), it is quite an accomplishment to hoard away the money to buy these books!

Anyone else like to brag about their collections? Would love to hear about them.

Hi! Welcome to the board. I just have a copy of each RJ book. My mom won't let me get the hard cover additions because they are much more expensive, and I read my books hard. My copy of the Haunted Air doesn't have a cover anymore...Sad
Congrats on the collection! It sounds beautiful.Smile

Good for you, arm1978! And welcome to the board!

I'm sure you'll find Paul most obliging when it comes to inscribing your collection. Unlike some, he's always happy to make time for his readers.

The only remotely unusual piece I have is an English SIBS, entitled SISTER NIGHT in Britain.

Good for you. I myself have all the books in paperback editions except for the last few novels(I started buying the HBs with Gateways). Since then I've built my collection up to 26 HBs, my biggest holes are The Tomb(the only RJ I don't have), The Touch and Nightworld.

My collection is modest, check out some of these http://www.repairmanjack.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3788&highlight=collector%27s+corner

and welcome to the board. How old are the kids?

I think my best find was a pristine copy of Virgin I found in a used book store in Monroe. I paid a whole dollar for it.

Welcome!

I've got a pretty good collection started, but they are all packed away for a bit while I try to turn one of our bedrooms into a library (I've been "painting" it for almost a year, going slow). Still missing The Tomb first edition, but I think I have most of the others. I just scored absolutely beautiful first editions of The Touch and The Keep on ebay (those plus 2 others as a package for $51 - can't beat that!). Just be patient.

And I am certain you won't have a problems getting your books signed. I brought a whole box (like one reams of paper come in) to NECon last year and FPW signed every single one for me - and it was FULL. I think it amused him that I had so many with me, but he didn't mind at all.

ROFL. What are you using? A small water color brush? Man I really need to work on my skill of deception in household chores.Big Grin

ImDeranged Wrote:I am at 35 Hardbacks, I almost forgot Beige. 8 Borderlands Editions, all but 2 Gauntlet editions. ( I picked up The Haunted Air from Amazon Marketplace last year under $30 shipped, someone had it under the TOR Isbn but with a note saying the cover was different. It's still sealed but I can see it has the sewn in bookmark/ribbon so it's a lettered or PC of the lettered.)

Strangely like Mike I also have Sister Night instead of SIBS. And I am proud to say I don't own the Tomb and never have. Unless you count the five minutes from when I bought a copy and then gave it away to my dad. After reading The Keep I was so blown away I ordered the limited edition of it as well as Rakosh so I just jumped into the hardcover collectors OCD world.

Anyone else ready to start begging Paul and Gauntlet for a 4 volume "Others" slipcase set? [Soft, Barrens, Aftershock, & "Orphans"-the missing Oddities]?

Your "Others" slipcase set idea is excellent, Jeff.

I heard you are supposed to paint a whole wall at once, and I keep getting interrupted. So I guess I've really been trying to paint a the same wall over and over for a year, not a room? (jk)

Actually, it's the prep that's taking up all the time - the last owners didn't understand the "sand" part of spackle, sand, paint, plus we have had someone on maternity leave at work so we were putting in more hours. And when I was finally all set and ready to paint, I made the mistake of letting my spouse "help" with the ceiling. Had to use a thick nap roller to paint the popcorn ceiling and he kept hitting the walls, so now I have about 1/8 inch of paint to sand down before I can do the walls. Those rollers hold *a lot* of paint!
