Young Jack 2? - Turanthor - 04-19-2009 New here, visited plenty of times but never posted before. I was looking around and could not find any mention of the second Young Jack novel? The first came out at the end of March last year, so I assumed another would be due out this Spring, but there is not even a listing for it yet at Amazon? I have not noticed any revised news about it either, all stuff FPW said about it last year. But it sounded like he was already half done with part 2 when the first one was coming out. has it been delayed? or was it always meant to take longer than a normal RJ book? thank you Young Jack 2? - Legion - 04-19-2009 Turanthor Wrote:New here, visited plenty of times but never posted before. Books two and three are getting flipped as they work better that way, Paul is busy with ground zero, other projects, the talks with studio over RJ the movie, saving the world, stopping terrorism, bringing peace to the middle east and being the coolest man alive. I eagerly await it as well. Young Jack 2? - fpw - 04-19-2009 Secret Circles is done and in the pipeline for February 2010. The 3rd, Secret Vengeance, is mostly done (needs a rewrite to make it follow rather than precede Circles) and due for delivery October 1. I've started RJ #14 and that's due November 1. Teenage Jack is also featured in a story ("Piney Power") for the upcoming young adult anthology (similar to Thriller) edited by R. L. Stine for the International Thriller Writers from Penguin at Halloween 2010. Young Jack 2? - cobalt - 04-19-2009 Lots of stories! Oh goodie! Oh...and welcome Turanthor. Young Jack 2? - Silverfish - 04-19-2009 Welcome to the board. If you want to keep up-to-date, you can check out Paul's monthly newsletter (found on main page) or just read the News section. I am looking forward to the next books. Stephanie Young Jack 2? - Bluesman Mike Lindner - 04-19-2009 Turanthor Wrote:New here, visited plenty of times but never posted before. Welcome aboard, Turanthor! What's your pedigree? (Which is bluesman talk for how did you come across Paul's fiction?) Young Jack 2? - Turanthor - 04-21-2009 Thank you FPW for the prompt update! and thank you to the rest for the welcome I actually ran across RJ in early 2007. I had started watching The Dresden Files tv show on Scifi. I liked the show so I ordered the first 3 books and read 'em in 2 days. After that I quickly got the rest of the series and read them as well. After I finished Dresden, I started looking around for more Urban Fantasy. I loved Joss Whedon's Bangelverse and Dresden obviously, so I decided to go fullbore into the genre. I discovered The Nightside from Simon Green and Repairman Jack from Mr. Wilson here. They were both recommended at Amazon to people with my buying habits. I bought all the RJ novels to that point (in hardcover, I am a book elitist!) and started reading. I read like 8 Jack novels in 2 weeks and have been hooked ever since. I have picked up a bunch of other Wilson books, The Keep, Reborn, Reprisal etc. but I have wanted to wait to read them until the final Jack novel and revised Nightworld come out. Plan to read the Keep sometime this year though, especially after By The Sword, love Glaeken! Hold off on Reprisal until right after RJ #14, and wait for the revised Nightworld after RJ #15. Young Jack 2? - Turanthor - 04-25-2009 thanks for the advice FPW. I am curious though, I do not own The Touch. Do I need to wait and get it before reading Reborn? or can it be read out of order and the AC understood without it? thank you Young Jack 2? - Wapitikev - 04-25-2009 Turanthor Wrote:thanks for the advice FPW. Plus, you have to read the short story "Dat Tay Vao" before the Touch. Then Jack Secret Histories includes the character who brings the Dat Tay Vao to the USA and who has it at the beginning of The Touch. Plus, unless I'm mistaken, Jack hears about the death of someone from "back home" (WK) in By the Sword. That death actually occurs in the beginning of The Touch. Personally, I read The Touch just after By The Sword and Jack Secret Histories, before FPW listed Ground Zero in front of it on the Secret History o.t. World...drat! As far as The Touch being read out of order, I have it on good authority that The Touch has a great deal to do with one of the characters in Reprisal, so you should DEFINITELY read it before you tackle that one. -Wapitikev |
