Does anybody NOT like Firefly/Serenity? - bones weep tedium - 12-17-2008 Sorrel and I borrowed the Firefly boxset from a friend and loved every bit of it. After finishing the season, we went out and bought Serenity and loved every bit of that, too. How on earth was it ever cancelled? Why was this programme not as popular as Heroes/Lost etc? Firefly was never even broadcast on mainstream UK television - it may have been shown on the poxy cable/satellite Sci-Fi channel but hardly anyone gets that. I can't imagine why anyone wouldnt enjoy this show - well plotted, funny, action packed, and some very strange and memorable characters. The black bounty hunter in the season finale was fantastic fun. Does anybody NOT like Firefly/Serenity? - Marc - 12-17-2008 You're inhuman if you don't like Firefly or Serenity. I suppose that explains why Fox canceled it. Yeah, I also hate Fox channel's commercialism. Too much commercials! Does anybody NOT like Firefly/Serenity? - bones weep tedium - 12-17-2008 Kenji Wrote:I like Serenity, but I haven't seen "Firefly" yet....... I saw Serenity and thought it was pretty good. Then we watched Firefly and were blown away. Re-watching Serenity after seeing the TV series made it even more satisfying. I have seen Firefly on Amazon.co.uk for less than £10. I was stunned that something so ghood could be so un-appreciated. If there is anyone on this board who didnt like Firefly, I would love to hear why. I just can't see it Does anybody NOT like Firefly/Serenity? - Mick C. - 12-17-2008 Wonderful series. From what I remember from the DVD commentaries, they showed the series out of order and moved it around so much it didn't get the chance to develop a following. Today, I wonder if the increase in DVRs and TIVOs wouldn't give it a better following, or having it on a quality channel like FX? Does anybody NOT like Firefly/Serenity? - ccosborne3 - 12-18-2008 Loved the movie but just can't seem to get into the TV series. That's why the movie was made. To my way of thinking, FOX messed it around because it tended to be anti-government -- but that's just my interpretation. Now that Bones has revived the subject, I'm going to have to get it out and watch it again -- for the umteenth time. Ken V. How many TV series cancelled before a season was up become TV shows? But for whatever reasons, FOX didn't feel it was worthwhile to continue it. It would probably do better now. But All things considered, I agree; if the series was shown as it was intended -- as it's done in the Firefly Box Set -- I think it would do very well indeed. Ken V. |
