Kindle and Jack - hapcollins - 10-14-2008

I just got a Kindle and love it. I find it so much easier to read and it is great for when you have a baby and you can't keep a bookmark in place. On Amazon's website it says to tell the publisher if you want books on Kindle. So naturally I said please make By the Sword available on Kindle. Does anyone know if FPW's books are going to ever be available?

I don't want to start a thread about the evils of ebooks and how physical books are superior. I still love my collection of books but it is nice to have them all stored for easy access on a light, portable device.

I've never heard about Kindle, so I checked it.

It's not available in Japan yet.

I've been a big fan of electronic media for years. Have you ever used ebooks before or read them on a PocketPC, Palm, iPhone? If so, how does the kindle compare?

For FPW: It appears that Kindle has some different releases that aren't available on my current electronic platform -- Any plans for the rest of your work to come to eReader?

[SIZE="3"]Those rights go to the publisher.

I have never used any other formats because I always assumed they were hard to read like a computer monitor. I read a few reviews about the e-ink and on the kindle and looked into it. I can actually read faster on a kindle than on a regular book. It looks just like paper and feels like you are holding a really light paperback book.

I like the trend of all the repairman jack books that FPW listed on Kindle. That gives me hope that they will all be released at some time. I don't know if I can wait longer than 30 days before buying the newest book but I may wait to see if it comes out as an ebook. No matter what though. I must fulfill my need to find out what happens next with Jack.

So, do I understand correctly that it's the publisher that's holding back?

Well, if the electronic rights go to the publisher, do you have any kind of clout to get them to move in this direction? (buttering up the Boss) What am I saying? Of course you have the clout...the question is: will you exert that clout in behalf of your electronic reader supporters. (/Buttering up the Boss)

I mean, it's been done with some of your novels -- and I have all of those -- so it's possible. Are the publishers hesitant? As far as electronic texts are concerned, I imagine the overhead would be fairly minimal so I'm very curious as to why there would be an issue.
