Just throwing this out there to see what the Jackaholics' views are:

What do you think about a Repairman Jack video game? It could be done in several different formats and you could have to decide WWJD in the current situation. You could have interaction with Abe in order to get your equipment, that you select, and the levels could be based on the series of novels, or new ideas. Any thoughts???

It would work very well, even if there were no books. But I would NEVER want to ssee it done. Then again, I don't want the movie done. I think that it takes away from the value of the books.

Before you go any further, you should ask FPW what he thinks about it. There are copyrights you may be violating.

Dude, not trying to be rude or anything...but could you re-read my post? Maybe I am missing what I typed, but no where did I say "I", and I was asking for any thoughts, which would include "The Man"...

Plus...if I was to create the game, it would be freeware...no copyright laws

The "I" was implied in what you wrote . . . until you specifically said it just now. And, as I understand it, Repairman Jack is a copyrighted character.

Even if he isn't, you still should ask for permission from FPW. It's the right and honorable thing to do.

As for me; I'm really not interested in that sort of thing.

I will correct a previous statement that in fact if I created a game based on RJ, it could be considered infringement based on the CR laws, but under the "Fair Use" act, the legalities of it even though it would be freeware could be a tough call.

Just to give you some background info...on a previous post, I had sent an email to FPW/webmistresses asking about doing an "Official RJ Myspace", but as of right now, I am posting an "Unofficial RJ Myspace" which is still under construction.

But that is neither here nor there...

The question is about the thread created here...

Was it an issue of me "Implying" that "I" was going to create this game?

Or, was it an issue of you "Assuming" my intentions?

I am not here to start issues or do the whole drama of bickering back in forth, cause for the past 15 years, I have gone to work everyday, fought for, and at times given up my own liberties and freedom of speech that "Libertarians" talk so much about. I respect everyone's views on how they feel, but in my line of work, there are no gray areas or room to imply.

Implying at most is a liberal characteristic, that allows others to view it for how they think it should be. It is actually in the same grouping as assuming. For me, it has to be conservative and concrete...black or white...no gray area.

Like OJ...He can write a book about "What If" and we can all assume that he did it based on his ideas...(which I believe he did), but at the end of the day, he never said he did it...

No hard feelings man, just wanted to clarify things on my behalf...

Let's try to keep this thread on topic. If it delves into politics it will have to be moved to the Political Discussion. Just forewarning everyone.

Also, there is a previous thread on an RJ Game here. Not sure where it stands at the moment but Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear Solid) was to design the game.

I whole heartedly agree with Ken here.

I think this is also the case, though saying it would be done as freeware is a bit of an insult to FPW, intended or not.

If there is one person who could do the Jack series right it would be Kojima.

Now, how about that presidential race?:p:p

Personal opinion but if and when Kojima makes a Repairman Jack game I'm hoping for a post-Nightworld setting. Because any game is more fun when it doesn't have to follow the same path as the book (or movie if it comes out in conjunction with it). There's also more freedom (for Kojima) in the post-Nightworld setting. And with FPW's statements of not writing anything post-Nightworld...
