I couldn't wait! - metllicamilitia - 10-07-2007 I was going to wait to read Nightworld until after all the Repairman Jack books but I can't wait until 2012! So I started reading the revised edition yesterday and will be finished by the end of the week. Now I'll get to be confused about things yet to come. Dig to hear your thoughts when you've finished it. I couldn't wait! - Auskar - 10-07-2007 I don't know if it makes sense for me to read Nightworld or not, since I don't really intend to read the entire "Adversary Cycle." If someone can give advice objectively, it would be interesting to listen. Why not read the ADVERSARY Cycle, brother? I couldn't wait! - ccosborne3 - 10-07-2007 Bluesman Mike Lindner Wrote:Why not read the ADVERSARY Cycle, brother? Auskar dislikes the horror genre. But he likes Jack. Nightworld is an out and out horror novel and I doubt he would enjoy it. I couldn't wait! - Bluesman Mike Lindner - 10-07-2007 ccosborne3 Wrote:Auskar dislikes the horror genre. And NIGHTWORLD is the final entry in the Jack saga. What's the big huhu? I believe Auskar could handle it! I don't want to give anything away, but what duo kicks more ass then Jack and Ba?!? Even I couldn't wait until 2012. After all, certainly those things come. I couldn't wait! - Auskar - 10-08-2007 Bluesman Mike Lindner Wrote:I am not a fan of horror either. I believe Auskar could handle it!I guess what I'm asking is, "Is it necessary to read all the other 'Adversary Cycle' stories in order for Nightworld to make any sense?" I tried to read them. I read The Keep, but it was a struggle for me - not because it is a bad book, but because I've got no real interest in horror unless there are lots of fights. I've read all the Repairman Jack novels, and liked them. I read Steakley's Vampire$, and liked it. But those are mostly "kill or be killed" kind of novels. Conflict. Fights. I like confllict with character development. I like when Jack does fixits. My favorite scene from all the Jack novels are when he got in the gunfight on the subway and when he dealt with the three-card monte players in the park (or were they drug dealers or gang members? I can't remember now). |
