It's just about ready to go.

In the mid 1990s I wrote a novel about the discovery of the body of the Virgin Mary. As I did with vampire lore in MIDNIGHT MASS, I began with the premise that all the Catholic lore about Mary is true except for one thing: She wasn’t assumed body and soul into heaven; instead, her body was hidden away in Israel’s Negev Desert. The guardian of her remains gets careless over the millennia and, while he’s busy elsewhere, the body is discovered and spirited away. This sets in motion a chain of cataclysmic events that reverberates around the world. I had a ball with it, putting all my Catholic background (even though I'm a recovering Catholic, you never forget) into play. I sent it out under my wife's maiden name (Mary Elizabeth Murphy) and gave it a blurb under my own. Even dedicated it to myself: "To my husband, without whom this book would not have been possible."

This is the first hardcover edition and the first publication under my own byline. It should start shipping mid-February. Order here: http://www.borderlandspress.com/virgin.html

or, if you want a copy inscribed to you, order here: http://shocklines.stores.yahoo.net/vibyfpawibha.html

Surprised you haven't heard it before. There are millions of us (especially baby boomers) who use the phrase, one day at a time.

"Virgin" is a terrific story and I can't wait to get my hardcover copy to complement my battered paperback.

Besides advancing it from a Millennial story to the present, I've made a few other changes, most notably the systematic destruction of every church / synagogue / mosque / temple / religious edifice in the world.

Back to square one, folks. Time to start all over again. And this time, get it right.

I just ordered it (again, I think, because I think I ordered it before, I think).
Anyway, if you end up inscribing two to me, you'll know why.
