I agree, hopefully it will be expandable to allow for power transfer over large distances like Tesla envisioned. FP, how much research did you do into this subject for your writing?

They touched (barely) on this concept in the recent movie The Prestige, which features David Bowie as Nicola Tesla. He lights up a field full of lightbulbs which are not wired to power.
