MMM... well not the best of movies I have seen. Movie has Tom Welling, Superman fans know him from show Smallville. Also Maggie Grace is in this movie too, if you watch Lost she plays Shannon in the show. Needless to say, I was drawn due to these actors, and the need for a good scare.
I have not seen the original Fog, so I really can't compare it, but the movie was very hard to follow. Not only this, but it just wasn't very scary at all. As it stacks up there is a lot better movies out to see than this one.

The origional is good, even a little underrated. I think a big reason it's not as popular as other Carpenter films is it's lack of a strong central "hero" character. I'll skip the remake, as reports are pretty grim.

IMHO, the original is near perfect.
My gal and I saw this "update" yesterday and walked out after about 40 minutes.
'nuff said.
p.s. Carpenter - after completely losing his touch with his last several directorial efforts - is now a sellout, as he was the Producer for this mess.
p.p.s. You want to make a horror movie?... make it scary. :confused:

John Carpenter's original The Fog is one of my favorite horror movies ever, though I admit that much of that is sentimental. It was one of the earlier ones I saw. (Halloween is my absolute favorite.) I am somewhat anxious about seeing the remake, though. I heard that there were a lot of scenes and effects added to this remake that weren't in the original.

Why why why......Why do they need to remake this? Carpenter's The Fog was perfect.
I saw remake version's trailer. But I felt something lacked. I've not seen this yet, so I can say nothing. But one thing.....I'll wait DVD release.

How desperate is Hollywood these days...? Bloody frustrating.
On a side note, they're also remaking Invasion of the Body Snatchers - even more bloody frustrating.

Starting next year, every single movie released will be a remake, not just 50% like in 2005. The word is out in Hollywood that the end of originality means no more new movies, just updates of old ones.

I think he has lost his touch, and most of it stems from bigger budgets. He was forced to be so creative and imaginative before, and it seems much of that has been lost since he can just buy whatever fx or sets he needs now.
I think he was just an Executive Producer, since the origional was his. Just like Vampires 2 and all the Halloween sequels. They attatch his name to it to help sell the sequels or remakes. All directors do that. The Executive Producer bit, in this case, is just a credit, all contributions were made long ago, when he made the origional film.

Well, the first remake, of the origional was pretty good. The next remake could be hit or miss.

Good. I'll save a lot more money on theater admission and new dvd purchases that way!!
