The horror. . . . The horror . . .
(Have I confused myself with Col. Kurtz once again?)

Mad TV made a Rankin-Bass kind of Christmas story called "A Pack of Gifts Now"
at the end as he is dying, the Kringle whispers "the horror.....the ho...ho...horror"

don't know if this name has come up yet. i didn't want to surf through 15 pages of people bickering about whether or not ashton kutcher would make a good jack (NO). my choice is Jake Gyllenhaal. he's a couple years under the ideal age for Jack, but i think he would be cool. he's weird and quirky and normal looking. just the way he's supposed to be. what does anyone in JackMessageBoardLand think?

If they are going for a young RJ, he'd be a viable contender. I still want my RJ to be older.

Welcome to the board, BTW. Scrolling through 15 pages of this thread could be educational, annoying, and possibly enlightening, at least as to the cast of characters in JackMessageBoardLand. Wink

I agree. That's why I mentioned about Cole Hauser. He is now 30. He is a little bit old, but still okay. His features are standard. Even if he is in crowd, he doesn't attract attention.

I may be out in left field here, but I just watched Flight of the Phoenix on DVD and noticed Tony Curran
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0192889/
(and
http://www.imdb.com/gallery/ss/0377062/Ss/0377062/FOP-226.jpg?path=pgallery&path_key=Curran,%20Tony%20(I)
for a picture) as RJ. He was also Skinner in League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

Others I was thinking about (and most previously mentioned on the forum):
Ben Broward
Dominic West
Shane West
Edward Burns

All I can say is that at this point I've given up all speculation and I'll just let Beacon Pictures do their thing. But I think that if they do go with "He Who Must Not Be Named Under Penalty Of Death" it'll be like what FPW said, he'll be old enough by the time the film gets made. At this point I'm just hoping that they keep the excellent story intact and don't butcher it.(P.S. I'm about ready to send my own script to Beacon, just to move things on)

I cannot believe anyone would consider Ashton Kutcher for the role of
Repairman Jack. Jason Biggs??? Topher Grace??? Colin Hanks??? Give me a break!!!
As far as I can see there is no mid-twenties actor that fits the role of
Repairman Jack.
Why not just have that guy who plays Fez on "That 70's Show"? (I'm
kidding).
In the words of Hank Hill: "Why not just go all the way and give me a cat
and a sex change operation!"

Why not have Trey Parker and Matt Stone do the film, but with puppets and
plenty of explsions. (Heh, heh, heh). You'd probably have Abe (like Kim il Jong) sounding suspiciously a lot like Cartman.

Seriously, though, it's a shame that the actor's age rules out Edward Norton, Kiefer Sutherland, Matt Damon, or others who could probably carry off the
role. At least FPW said it wasn't Frankie Muniz!.

Oh!!! I've just had another horrifying thought! Maybe Satan himself is
running this film and will cast McCaulley Culkin (Home Alone) in the role
of Repairman Jack. If that happens I can't see Glaeken ever being able
to defeat Rasalom. The "otherness" would bcome too strong to be defeated.

Your mid-twenties actor who wants to play Repairman Jack is none other than Chris Evans. I just saw him in Cellular today. He's the right height, has a good look and is nondescript-looking enough that you forget his face after every time you see him. Here's a pic:
