I can't post it here due to the 1000 character restriction (another problem with posting them here for archiving). It is 11,554 characters (counting spaces). I'll post it here in multiple sections for everyone to tear apart when we're done with it. FYI, the Headings in the article are: (general intro) Plot Introduction Plot Summary List of Characters (in order of appearance) Publishing History Interconnections Anagrams for Rasalom Thanx to Bones for suggesting the List of Characters and Interconnections headings. -Wapitikev The Grand Adversary Cycle Wikipedia Project - Alvin Fox - 05-27-2008 Has anyone here who has read (or written) Demonsong thought that
the pit in the Amphitheater was a gateway similar to the ones in Conspiracies, Gateways and Nightworld?
The Grand Adversary Cycle Wikipedia Project - bones weep tedium - 05-27-2008 Wapitikev Wrote:Well, I've finished the 1st draft of the "Demonsong" Wiki article (text only) and I am sending it to AlvinFox for editing. While there is nothing written that prevents the Amphitheatre from being a portal (it probably is, in fact) I did not equate it with Conspiracies or even with Gateways (haven't read Nightworld yet) because it didn't seem to share the same physical charactreristics as the other holes...swirling blackness, no suction into the vortex, nothing expicitly came out of it, etc., and we didn't actually [B]see[B] it. We just saw mist. We don't know what is at the bottom. In Conspiracies, in Gateways and, I assume, in Nightworld, we are explicitly told there is a hole and that the Otherness is at the bottom. While it is logical that the Demons and Rasalom's new body must have gone somewhere when they fell into the mist...(so there likely was a portal there under the mist)...and they all must have come from somewhere to begin with, I wasn't willing to explicitly say that there was a portal there when we didn't actually see one. I suggest that, if we do add a "portal to the Otherness" connection, that we make it a speculative mention, due to its non-appearance. -Wapitikev The Grand Adversary Cycle Wikipedia Project - Silverfish - 05-27-2008 Interesting theory Alvin. Well, AvinFox and I have been E-mailing each other regarding the "Demonsong" Wiki and an interesting detail has come to light. I am working onthe Original DAW edition and he has the Gauntlet Chapbook edition...Alvin had asked about the Otherness portal because his edition has a reference to one...whereas mine does not. In the DAW edition, at the climax of the confrontation with the Choir of Chaos mine says: "One by one, then in groups, and finally in a hellish rain, they followed the embryo." The Chapbook that Alvin has says: "One by one, then in groups, and finally in a hellish rain, they followed the embryo [B]back to the hell of their origin." So, when I said above that we don't see what's below the mist, I was (unknowingly) wrong...Alvin's edition clearly states that there was a portal to the Otherness under that mist and both the embryo and the demons fell through it. If anyone has the Little Beige Book, please verify that Alvin's version is the same as yours. In the meantime, I'll assume that it is and we've agreed that I'll add a reference to an otherness portal in the connections section. When I finish the small edits that Alvin had, I'll post the Wiki in a number of sections (it won't all fit in one post). The wait is almost over. -Wapitikev The Grand Adversary Cycle Wikipedia Project - Wapitikev - 06-01-2008 Wapitikev Wrote:Well, AvinFox and I have been E-mailing each other regarding the "Demonsong" Wiki and an interesting detail has come to light. ...I'm also wondering, now, what else changed in the newer editions... -Wapitikev |
