You haven't seen The Italian Job, I assume? He never looks "mean" in that, except when absolutely necessary. He's a hell of an actor, he's tall (but not VERY tall...probably not even as much as Ryan Reynolds, come to think of it...), he can really tap into his dark side, he's handsome, and yet you could lose him in a crowd. Not to mention he has the right physique for the character. But again: RYAN REYNOLDS WORKS. At least in theory - but I have good faith in him.

I certainly have no gripe with Reynold's acting ability. And as far as him not fitting Jack's dimensions to a 't', it's a good comprimise.

I think Ryan Reynolds is a hot, rising star and I'm glad he's playing Jack. He's sexy, funny and has the "it" factor. I can't wait to see him kick some rakoshi butt!

I became a fan after watching Blade: Trinity. Cheesy movie, but Reynolds was terrific.

I agree, Susan. I became a fan of Ryan Reynolds in the wonderful DICK, in which he had a tiny but memorable part. His few minutes onscreen intrigued me and stayed with me for years. I had to run home and check out who he was.

He'll be a terrific Jack. Now let's hope we have an equally fabulous director, who can make or break a film.

Ryan Reynolds Will Play Jack - Annice Burdeos - 09-18-2007

heretofore, I have always seen him referred to in that context.

His movies don't exactly pack folks into the theatre and Smokin'Aces was an ensemble piece

Based on my experiences in cinema, if a potential franchise is to be made and the first film underperfroms, then, there will be no others

Reynolds has not shown he can "carry" a film e.g. primarily open to big numbers, come in as #1 and sustain it over at least two weekends

It's taken so long to have Jack cast that it seems as if the studio went with the least obvious choice

Will I see it -yes but my feeling tells me this will not do well................

I agree about Blade:Trinity. He made the movie more entertaining and can deliver the witty one-liners very well. I just hope they don't try to make the movie to cutesy. Jack has to be a total bad-ass!

Seems to me Maggers is a modern age woman who knows what she wants. Men have been doing it forever, why not a woman?

Do that many people really decide to go see a film strictly based on who is the star? I certainly don't. As an example, as much as I like Jodie Foster, this new film of hers (The Brave One) just doesn't sound like a terribly interesting or original story so I'll wait for DVD. For me at least, it's all about the story no matter who the actors are.

Besides, I think big opening weekends are driven more by pre-release publicity than anything else. And that is something all of us can help do when the time comes if we get busy posting about it all over the web.

I just read Bones Weep Tedium's post on this. It was quite witty. If your double entendre was intentional, it was both masterful and amusing; if it was inadvertant, then it was probably twice as amusing. Now, which was it?

As an aside, I suppose that only actors would want to be known for "tiny but memorable parts". Sorry, I just couldn't leave it alone. Bad Biggles! Evil, naughty, despicable Biggles <he says as he slaps himself>.
