Ken Valentine Wrote:This RJ movie is from the book THE TOMB.

The characters to be portrayed would be:

RJ -- of course

Gia

Vicky

Julio

Abe -- Pat Hingle is 80 years old, Abe is 50

Nellie Patton

Kusum

Kolabati

Albert Westphalen

Burkes -- a cameo for FPW?

Joe Greene -- the cab driver

Neil The Anarchist -- L. Neil Smith - cameo Big Grin

others . . .

Since the shooting location has been changed to Shanghai, I would suspect that Kusum and Kolabati would be replaced with Asian characters.

Have you seen The Butterfly Effect? I think he was great in it. Very different than anything else I've seen him in and a pretty decent actor, IMHO. I think he has plenty of untapped acting ability. Not that I think he'd make a great Jack. And since FPW has kinda put the kybosh on my 26-year-old actor theory, I may need to go back to the drawing board (or just give up trying the theorize who it might be).

How about Arjun Rampal for Kusum?

I don't know about Ben Kingsley, but Dakota Fanning was awesome in Man On Fire, and I like your pick for kolabati.

The question is not, "can she act?" It is will she dishabille for the camera? No offense meant, but Bati always struck me as a sexy temptress... This in mind, the obligitory T&A will probably be from her.

BTW - Could Sean Connery play Abe?

Nope! Not Crazy. I checked out some other photos of Shilpa Shetty and I'm less than impressed. Sure, she's got the right nationality, but other than that what does she bring to the table? If memory serves, Kolibati was like a 10 and 1/2 where this chick is no more than a seven...In my humble opinion that is.

And Sean Connery can not and would not be Abe! My God, are you smoking crack? Again, this is just my humble opinion.

jamedog Wrote:robbie coltrane would work, and since you got all snippy at me for my castingsince it wasn't from the tomb, how about Nassurderan Sha( league of extroadinary gentleman) as kusum. Asheley Scott as gia, Ben Browder as Jack and kolabati and vicky would be tough, but the studios would probably go with dakota fanning as vicky

Sorry if you thought I was being snippy. It wasn't intended that way.

The only name you mention here that I have ever heard before is Dakota Fanning. And even then, I've never seen her.

I'll have to look up the rest.

Scott Miller Wrote:Don't get me wrong, I find Shilpa beautiful and have no problem with her as Bati, if she can act. I think the role is an important one and I just don't want to see a gorgeous gal delivering leaden lines. Whoever (or is that whom, Lisa?) gets the part needs to be convincing.

I like a couple of actresses, Sheetal Sheth, who I thought was good in American Chai. http://www.sheetalsheth.com/photogallery.htm

And the other played the lead in Kama Sutra and I will be back with her name in a moment. Her name is Sarita Choudhury.

That's all well and good, but China is now being substituted for India in the actual movie . . . if it ever gets made.

Perhaps we had better shift our focus a little.

Suspicion confirmed!

HEY! Castle Rock! How long have you lived there?

I used to do a lot of camping near Franktown, and raced a lot at Continental Divide Raceway right across the highway from Castle Rock.

Beautiful country.

I'm afraid that we are all giving the movie and characters more thought than the people making the decisions will. We're attached to and invested in the characters and have an idea of how they should be portrayed. I hope there's not too many let-downs when it comes out. Unfortunately, I expect there will be at least a couple.

As far as actor/actresses, I don't have any specific suggestions for most of the characters, but Bati should be dark and beautiful, yet approchable. Kusum should also be dark, and maybe a little menacing right off the bat. I think Dakota Fanning would be perfect for Vicky. She was awesome in Man on Fire and Trapped. She's an adorable kid.
