LOST... the 4th season - Maggers - 02-01-2008

You've got that right. I didn't begin to think that way until last night; but the thought that whomever is in the casket is someone we may not even know yet is viable.

I didn't like Naiomi having enough strength to climb a tree to get the drop on Kate, especially when she died two minutes later. Couldn't she have hidden behind a tree? Maybe played possum? Just didn't feel right to me.

I love the way you think. Cinematically speaking, unrealistic though it may have been, if she hadn't climbed the tree they wouldn't have had the nifty scenes of the blood dripping on Kate's shoulder, Kate looking up to something (seemingly) horrible, and Naomi dropping down on her with the knife to Kate's throat. It was a great series of edited shots.

Marc B. Wrote:Previous seasons have never followed this rule. When Michael left in season 2 he didn't have a credit anymore...

That's right. Michael (Harold Perrineau) didn't show up in Season 3 credits at all on IMDB.com, either. But Mr. Eko, whose real name I can't spell, was listed in several episodes in which he didn't appear during the second season. It seems to me they list the entire cast for the season in the opening credits. For instance, when Boone returned in the 3rd season to guide Locke in his trippy experience, the actor who played Boone was listed as a guest, not as part of the ensemble, because he was only visiting.

I was thinking the same thing!

At first, I was annoyed with the pop-ups, but they turned out to be extremely helpful in recapping and revealing insider secrets like the doctor that is the son of the older couple on the island.

***SEASON PREMIERE SPOILERS***

I can't believe Charlie is really dead! I was hoping there'd be some miracle and we could keep our wee hobbit. Sniff, sniff.

There were a lot of interesting things on this show, but 4 of the most intriguing things are:
  1. The Oceanic 6 (we know 3 of them - Jack, Kate and Hurley), but who are the other 3 and why did only 6 of them go back to the future or the past or whatever the heck that reality is! And what happened to the rest of the people? Are they still on the island?
  2. Who are Naomi's people and what's their agenda?
  3. Did Hurley have a close encounter with Jacob at that weird house when he got lost?
  4. Who the heck is in that casket?

The casket and it's contents are the driving question to me at tme moment. The person inside was not a friend or a family member of Jack, but he was clearly an emotional wreck at the funeral home. However, Kate didn't care who was in it. Also, Jack really wanted back to the island, but Kate didn't care or want to go back. Therefore, whoever is in the casket may have had the ability to make Jack's wish come true and return him to the island. Which makes me wonder if the casket contains...Walt.

I guess you've got a fabulous big HD screen and HD cable? I'm sure the look of the show is much prettier. I've watched the DVD's of LOST on my laptop which has a crisp, sharp image. Is that what you mean about it being a whole different show?
The quality of a HDTV is better than what you see on your laptop. Seriously, HDTV watching is a real treat. If you can afford it, buy a widescreen HDTV with a 1080 resolution. We bought a lower resolution and we thought it was da bomb until we saw my parent's 1080!

The caveat is that you must check with your HD cable or satellite provider to make sure what channels they offer in your area in Hi-Def. For example, since I live out in the sticks I get TNT, HBO, SHO, ESPN and a few other movie channels in Hi-Def, but no local channels. In fact, most of the HD channels are sports related and I don't care for sports.

So although I have a HDTV, I can't watch Lost in Hi-Def. I wouldn't think you'd have a problem since you live in NY.

Even when the channels aren't HD, the picture quality is still superior than a regular tv.

My parents have an enormous wide screen HDTV at their house. When we visit, we're all mesmerized by it. Even the dog is captivated! LOL

Marc B. Wrote:He said to Bernard that now that he's legally dead the money will be gone and he will be free. So Hurley may not have that money anymore.

I Thought that was just wishful thinking on his part. We'll see. I think he may have won the money just so he can afford to finance the gang's return to the island. It would somewhat explain how he won it with those numbers in the first place.

You should get Directv. I think they have almost 80 HD channels now and they're going to double that total by the end of the year. I've never regretted switching over. It's also a pleasing feeling telling the cable companies to stuff it. I dislike the way they operate.

My brother has a 1080. It is indeed a better picture than regular HD. Switching from analog to HD is similar to upgrading from dialup internet service to broadband. Once you do it there's no going back.

Now I want a 1080.

No kid dies and has no one show up to the funeral. Even if he's a weirdo kid like Walt. Big Grin

Did anyone catch the season three finale? There was a scene when Jack was having it out with the new Chief of surgery and he says something like "Why don't you get my father down here from upstairs and we'll see which one of us is drunker?"

I didn't pick up on it when I watched it the first time because I thought I was watching a flashback. Why would his father be alive? What's up with that?

If you're going to get an HD television it's best to get a 1080p model, NOT a 1080i. If you are on a budget 720p is still a better choice over 1080i. Simply, 1080i is interlaced HD so your resolution is in fact 540 instead of 720 or 1080. Always go with a number that ends in P (progressive).
