I've read everything but the La Nague stuff, and some of it twice! Stacy, Definitely get the LaNague stuff. I just finished "Wheels Within Wheels." When I first read "An Enemy of the State" and "Healer," I thought I wasn't crazy about this very different series of books, with the exception of "Healer" which I absolutely loved. Because WWW and AEOTS both deal with politics and economics and the interdependence of one and the other or the non-interdependence of one and the other, I was a little put off. But after finishing WWW, I want to read AEOTS again. The political/economic underpinnings have gotten to me; I want to know more. At the World Horror Convention in New York a few weeks ago, Paul told me that many people have written to him or spoken to him about the effect that the LaNague Chronicles had on their lives. He said he is always surprised by it, but delighted also. They are thoughtfully provocative books that very gently provide an education in politics and economics, topics which I ordinarily eschew. As I wrote somewhere else, Paul has woven his magic and I'm under his spell. Believe me, it is a magic spell if it's made me want to learn more about politics and economics! I need to check Aphew's FAQ again because I've been a little cornfused as to the order and such. And frankly, they just didn't sound as appealing to me as his other work. I'm re-reading All the Rage right now. I should just bite the bullet and read those when I'm done. COMPENDIUM collection point - Maggers - 05-02-2005 stacyzinda123 Wrote:I have some of it. I think the order is Healer The Tery AEOTS WWW Not 100% sure about the first two, though. KRW COMPENDIUM collection point - Maggers - 05-20-2005 Following up on comments in another thread, here's a connection amongst some FPW's books. The church in "Virgin" appears also "Crisscross" and "The Haunted Air." What is the name of that church? COMPENDIUM collection point - Alan - 05-20-2005 fpw Wrote:Reborn / Black Wind link: Exactly. Reread Reborn a few months ago and I caught that detail. That's one of the nice thing about your books. Go back 3 years later and find things I missed the first time through. More bang for the buck. COMPENDIUM collection point - KRW - 05-21-2005 Kind of an obscure connection, and it may be nothing but coincedence. I've just finished "Virgin" and I noticed a simialarity between it and "Nightworld". I'll make it as obscure as I can so there will be no spoilers. In both books, the characters are led by people who are not all there, to find important artifacts to help end the "End of the world" scenerios. We also have another guy with a long life in this one to. Plus the funnel inside the storm was like a hole that went up (To the Ally?) instead of a hole that went down (to the Advisery). And the culminating event in THE TERY is alluded to in HEALER. (I believe.) COMPENDIUM collection point - fpw - 05-21-2005 Maggers Wrote:What is the name of that church? St. Joseph's. It was one of my first experiences of cross references in your books, or, at least being aware of a cross reference. |
