I recommend reading them all over again, from the chronological start to the finish. You would be surprised at what you know you read, but somehow do not remember. I'm almost finished with my second run of them, and when i finish (waiting for Nightworld 2012 release to arrive, i just have the 1992 version), I will start all over again.
It feels like the first time i read it, when i re-read it....The Man has that ability to write in such a manner that you become spoiled...nothing else really lives up to the quality and quantity of his vast works.

If you're into science fiction, I would suggest the Demon Princes series by Jack Vance. It's long in the tooth now, but has aged well. It's basically the story of one man's quest for revenge against five crime lords who destroyed his family when he was a child on a frontier planet. Raised by his grandfather to be a fighter and assassin, the protagonist is alot like RJ in some ways. I was a huge fan of Vance when I was a kid, and devoured all his books. There are 5 books in the series.

Sounds interesting. I'm almost done with the book I'm reading and looking for something new and different. I'll look for this and if I pick it up will definitely leave a review. Thanks.

i'm just getting into joe r lansdale's hap and leonard series. lansdale is someone recommended by the trustworthy dr wilson.
i enjoyed dennis lahane's kenzie-gennaro series, and don winslow's neal carey mysteries, and please don't scoff: the hunger games.
(but then, what do i know? i'm on the internet.)

The 1st Sandman Slim book by Richard Kadrey was very good. Odd that there are no chapters.

I'd recommend the Dog Faced Gods trilogy by Sarah Pinborough. Great story with a supernatural background. I think FPW and Ms Pinborough were working together on a project - no idea of anything came of this.
Anno Dracula books by Kim Newman - if you enjoyed Midnight Mass - try this. Great vampire book set in Victorian England with a fantastic cast of real & fictional victorians. Actually recommended by FPW in the forward to Midnight Mass.

This suggestion may seem a little out of left field, but I'd like to add Liz Williams' Detective Inspector Chen series to this list of recommendations. The world Williams creates is fascinating, the writing is excellent, and the stories are compelling.

I have only read the first book in the trilogy but the British writer Sarah Pinborough's 'Dog faced Gods' trilogy. Like RMJ it's Weird crime, like jack it is building towards the end of everything. Like RMJ it has an interesting hero. Like RMJ (some of them) it's original horror. It's alot darker in tone than RMJ. It has a dystopian feeling that I have yet to experience in RMJ (but I have not gotten to Nightworld yet). The first book is called "A matter of Blood" worth the import. only has a British release so far.

Great summary - didn't realise it was UK only so far - The whole trilogy is out over here and as I said I really enjoyed it.
