Casting Call for RJ - Sigokat - 11-04-2006

Ken Valentine Wrote:No, I just remember seeing the Spanky And Our Gang series when it was on TV back in the mid-fifties.

He also played a young American Indian boy in a series called Red Ryder -- I remember him from the series, but mostly I remember the Red Ryder comic strip in the Sunday Denver Post newspaper.

That's understandable.

I remember seeing it when it was in the theater a few years after I graduated high school. And I remember recognizing Robert Blake from "Spanky," and Red Ryder. (I had a Red Ryder BB gun when I was a kid. Big Grin )

Another reason it stuck in my mind was because I was good friends with the brother of one of the people Truman Capote interviewed when he was writing the book. My friends brother was on Death Row in the Colorado State Penitentiary, and he was in prison with Smith and Hickock in Kansas.

The guy who played Hickock (Scott Wilson) was unknown at the time.

He doesn't have to be a complete unknown, but he definitely doesn't
have to be a big-name star. The only positive thing I can think of regarding a fairly big-name star having the role is that he would probably have an established fan-base and that would probably save money on promoting the movie. Other than that . . .

Real talks . . . yes. Real action . . . not so much.

Ken,
Since I'm only 29 yrs old (I'm a little drunk right now due to my b-day party, so please forgive any typos) the first I ever saw of In Cold Blood was in high school (like I said earlier) but what I remember of it was phenomenol (definitely spelled wrong!!! Big Grin ) but I like the example. I understand what you said about Robert Blake and thank you for correcting me (I hate saying something ane then being wrong and looking like an ass, so really, thank you)

I loved In Cold Blood , both the movie and the book and Capote was an amazing movie! Even though I knew how the whole thing ended I was still glued to my seat. I only wish that more movies that are made today (hopefully RJ) could be as riveting and compelling as those movies, but alas, there is too much wishful thinking on my part...just like I wish I will never have to go back to Iraq even thought I know that is BS!!

Oh well, the beer is talking now...hope you get my point. Again thanks for the correction and I'll keep my fingers crossed for the RJ movie.

(Hoping Coblat doesn't start scolding me for drinking too much...again...)

I'm still gunning for Michael T. Weiss. You may know him of Pretender fame. He's the one in the middle. He might be a bit on the tall side. This is a really good picture of him too.

"al" instead of "ol," otherwise, right on the money. Wink

So, you graduated in '94? I graduated in '64. Although I don't out-rank you, I do have "seniority." Big Grin And about 30 years more in the memory-bank.

Wou're welcome . . . you're not an ass . . . and now you can correct someone else. Sew there!

And Happy Birthday!

Well, I was close, but it still doesn't look right!!

Actually I graduated in 1995. Yeah, I may have the rank, but you DO have the seniority and the memory-bank/life experience ahead of me.

At least I can say I've been to Babylon. Not many Americans can say that!
