Not exactly. He told Jack that he was going to enjoy Jack's great suffering, but he didn't say he would cause it. The whole series has been very carefully ambiguous about who or what is behind Jack's problems, and my bet is that it ISN'T the Big R. I can't wait to see what new clues to this mystery are in Harbingers.

But even better than cabs, though I do love them, buses and subways get you there quicker and cheaper. When I do need a car to get out of town, I just rent one.

At least you know how to drive. And for your situation it makes perfect sense.

As for me -- not counting racing cars -- I've owned five vehicles over the years, and driven more than three quarters of a million miles. I've often wondered -- if it weren't necessary to drive so much -- what other more productive uses I could have put all that time into . . . not to mention the expense.

Don't just count the miles, how much time is wasted at red lights and grid lock? Or even fueling up! I still love my truck though, just climb in and go!

That's the nice thing about the automobile; it takes you from exactly where you are, to exactly where you want to go, at a moments notice, any time of day or night, quite safely and in relative privacy.

That's my kind of "mass transit."
