Being from SC, I've heard both sides of the debate endlessly. To be honest, both sides have valid points. There was a lot that was good in the Confederacy, and a lot that was bad. I don't have a problem at all with those who fly the flag to honor the good things, but I do have a problem with those who use it to fan their racism, classism, etc. I do agree that its annoying for people to move in from the outside and immediately start complaining about something they don't know about.

Near as I can tell, the word Yankee comes from the Dutch word Janken . . . which means "to whine."

So it's ok to fly the Swastika to honor Hitler's stance against smoking because he was one of the first to postulate it's link to lung cancer and heart disease. Am I understanding you correctly?

Is it okay to wave an American flag because Americans were slave owners and slave traders for years. How many Japanes civilians were killed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki?
The South has a very proud and honorable tradition, much greater than that of the slave owners they opposed, from The North, in the Civil War.
