Ground Swell For Ground Zero - Tyler Edwards - 09-08-2009

Bluesman Mike Lindner Wrote:Brian, are you aware the Borders' people practice human sacrifice in the basement? Fact (so far as I've heard).

Their dreadful chant, as they put the knife to a captured B&N bookseller's throat, goes,

Borders, Borders
Here we go!
With a hee-hee-hee
And a ho-ho-ho!

This, to the soundtrack of Black Sabbath's first album.

Bloodchillin', ain't it?

Well atleast they have good taste in music. Big Grin

Just picked mine up yesterday - yeah I know it is "pre-street date" but I go to a small local bookstore and what can I tell you.
Dying to start but have about 100 pages left in the newest Clive Cussler book...........so patience is definitely in order!

We're all eagerly biting at the bit to get our claws on this book, but you have the gall to post and tell you have an early copy but you'll be patient and not read it now? I must have underestimated Mr. Cussler".Wink

I love Cussler's Dirk Pitt novels. I haven't read the newest 3 (written by his son Dirk Cussler). I am still trying to add a 1st print hard cover of Iceberg to my collection (without mortgaging the house). That's the only one I'm missing.

It is taking me a LOT OF SELF CONTROL to finish the book - though I am really enjoying it. I fell in love with Cussler back with Raise the Titanic and have not stopped. (Though it does look like with the two new series he is starting with co-writers this year, he might be trying to become the "James Patterson" of the adventure/thriller crowd.)

I'm gonna have to give him another chance. I don't get the chance to read a lot anymore, but If he can curb an urge to read RJ, that would be right up my alley!Smile (I'm still looking at "Dance of Death" by Preston and Child, but I won't touch it untill I've read the new RJ:o)

Ground Swell For Ground Zero - Bacardi Jim - 09-11-2009

Pre-ordered, but not actually arriving until next month, as I bundled it with the new Discworld book to save on shipping.

You're allowed to buy 2, ya know. Makes a great gift.

PHEW!!!! Just finished "Spartan Gold" (the Cussler book - lot's of fun) and now a "Ground Zero" Question.
(Not sure if a "spoiler alert" is necessary considering the cover of the book.)

In the "Secret History" timeline at the back of the book it says that "Ground Zero" takes place in July. But it starts with (at least it is on the first pages) with the attack on the Trade Center - which the last time I checked was in September. Is the calendar used for the Secret History different/shifted from the one we all know and love?
Thanks,
Steve

The lead-in describes the initial collapse of the towers, but the events in the novel -- when Jack becomes involved -- take place later -- July of a different year.
