It'll be nice to see how his character fits into the show...

He is Brazilian, I think, and was interviewed on one of those entertainment talk shows. I don't know if he'll be a regular, be he seemed to sound like he'd be popping up more and more.

A HIATUS OF 4 MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We've got only 2 more episodes before that deja vu series starts playing in the "Lost" time slot on Wednesdays. Then we won't have ANY "Lost" until February 7th. THAT IS SO NOT RIGHT!

WHAT?!!! Four months!!

That's cruel and unusual punishment. Jeez.

The clips for that Day Break show remind me of the trailers for Denzel Washington's new movie, Deja Vu.

4 months, can you imagine! That is so wrong.

Yup, "Day Break" is like a scary "Groundhog Day," one of my favorite movies of all time. And "Deja Vu" sounds like the movie version of "Day Break."

I find it fascinating that Hollywood puts out similar movies with similar story lines and ideas all at the same time. "Infamous" was made at the same time as "Capote," but they waited a year before they brought it out. They shouldn't have bothered.

What....4 months without LOST............???? That is totally not acceptable!!

Only 2 more episodes before "Day Break" takes over that time slot, and then "Lost" doesn't air again until February 7th!

On the extra disc in the DVD set of the "Lost" second season, they say they need the hiatus to catch up on filming. Although they start off on schedule, it seems they fall behind by mid-season. They realized early on that they would have to take these long breaks to get themselves back on track.

That's what they say. There may be truth to that, however I can't help but think it's all about the marketing.

I think the reason they take the long breaks is to gauge audience reaction and make adjustments to either speed up the pace or slow it down. One of the problems with these types of "Twin Peaks" shows (shows where you haven't got a clue what the hell is going on) is that audience frustration builds and you begin to lose viewers quickly. As a result, you have to start revealing the mystery, speeding the pace of new revelations, and adding new layers to the mystery.

When they start going down the tubes, they go down quickly.

And I guess that is the same thing as marketing.

I think the fan base for "Lost" is so enormous that if some impatient viewers get frustrated by the pace and choose not to watch any more, it won't make a difference. "Lost" will still be huge.

I meant two things by marketing:
1. ABC has been plugging "Day Break" fiendishly during the "Lost" shows attempting to make sure that the "Lost" time slot will be watched whether or not "Lost" fills it. In other words, they have been marketing "Day Break" as if their lives depended on it, which I guess in a way, they do. Since they are taking away their top show for 4 months, ABC has to push "Day Break" as hard as they can, otherwise they will have lost the ratings war for that precious time slot.

2. By removing "Lost" from the airwaves, they create mid-season cliff hangers that MUST be watched by all of us crazy-for-"Lost" fans when the series returns. They artificially create a need, a jones, if you will, by taking away our drug of choice for 4 friggin' months.

I don't know what "Day Break" is.

Many shows are winners. I think Lost is around number four right now. Every top ten television show that isn't currently on the air went somewhere.

I've never watched Lost, don't know why I sometimes look at this thread, but I clicked this link that Scott H posted and ... dang, that guy could so be Repairman Jack in the movie! Really.
