I wonder what else might be buried out and about, beside books of the "otherness persuasion" Post-Harbingers Thoughts (SPOILERS) - luthie2 - 05-24-2006 cobalt79 Wrote:Now that I've read Harbingers, I think the Lilitongue was buried by the orders of an Oculus. I wonder what else might be buried out and about, beside books of the "otherness persuasion" Ahhh....interesting theory about the Oculus. I can definitely see them getting an alarm about something like the lilitongue! And like you - I'd still love to know where the lilitongue took Tom! Can you imagine what would happen if Tom eventually came back as a full-out agent of the Otherness? How dangerous he would be, since he knows so much about Jack - his past, where he lives, where Gia lives... And of course, if you factor in the fact that the man had no scruples to begin with.... I'm assuming that we will never hear from Tom again, but it's fun to throw wild ideas out there. -Luthie Post-Harbingers Thoughts (SPOILERS) - webby - 05-24-2006 cobalt79 Wrote:Now that I've read Harbingers, I think the Lilitongue was buried by the orders of an Oculus. luthie2 Wrote:Ahhh....interesting theory about the Oculus. I can't decide though about who put the idea in Tom's head to begin with... Ally, Otherness, whoever. You could probably find some good arguments for any of them. cobalt79 Wrote:So if Glaeken is the "sword", then Jack is the "spear" then HWMNBN might get a double whammy in the end. And remember, there are no more coincedences, Jack might be that proverbial thorn/spear in the side of ole R! Now that would be extremely cool I can't wait to see the revised Nightworld!! I was speaking with a friend that had gone back to school to complete her degree. Her last course was in English Literature. She was bemoaning the fact that the final had her comparing and contrasting two books by the same author. I thought to myself how much I hated to do those papers and essays in school. I would procrastinate till the very end of the deadline to do the paper. Now, I was chomping at the bit as it were to discuss this story line. I find this VERY amusing. But it is known that I could be strange at times! If the books weren't fun, the discussions wouldn't be either. Plus, you actually "talk" to us on these forums. How cool is that??! Certain events that occur after Harbingers are reflected in Nightworld without explanation because by the time it's published for the mass market you'll have experienced those events and the explanations will be redundant. Also, I think you Harbingers readers can appreciate why I didn't want you reading Nightworld first - because Emma is not in Nightworld. Had you known that, it would have ruined a lot of the suspense. Thanks for the warning. Well, now I have a dilemna -- read the revised Nightworld asap, or wait to finish the RJ series? Bad Webby says, "you already read Nightworld, so how can it hurt?", good Webby says, "patience...it will be better if you wait for the background". I appreciate that the explanations aren't rehashed in Nightworld. I'm easily hooked on series novels but I sometimes get annoyed at seeing the same background paragraphs used over and over in every book. Certain events that occur after Harbingers are reflected in Nightworld without explanation because by the time it's published for the mass market you'll have experienced those events and the explanations will be redundant. I also am anxiously awaiting my copy of Nightworld and am glad to hear that there will be some new mysteries in it to look forward to! I first read Nightworld long before the RJ books came out and I really love this book - especially the way that it ties all the other books of the Adversary Cycle together so beautifully. Although, I have to admit, I almost regretted having read Nightworld while reading Harbingers, because I knew too much. I knew who would be in Nightworld and who wouldn't. At least I thought I knew - all bets may be off now with the Nightworld re-write!! Thank you, Paul for giving us such a rich and enthralling world that we can lose ourselves in - and endlessly discuss! Also, many thanks for setting up this wonderful forum where we can meet other people who love your work as much as I do!! Best Regards, -Susan |
