Like I said, maybe I'm wrong; I could be confusing books here.
Not sure if this was a mistake or not, since some people's food allergies change over time. Children especially often outgrow their allergies.

Perhaps the necklace may possess a smidge of the old Dat Tay Vao that can permanently correct a minor affliction such as the chocolate allergy/sensitivity or relieve the itch from poison ivy. Just my $0.02

All seem like good interpretations to me. Although I know that my oldest son broke out in a rash from large amounts of citric acid. (orange juice, tomatoes, and so forth) till he was 2 years old, shortly after he turned 2, he no longer had that allergy. Sort of here one day gone the next.

I know this thread was started along time ago but as someone revived it I will add this.
Now, I don't know if FPW made any changes or revisions, but I am currently reading Crisscross and I just finished the part where they were out trick or treating. Vicky received a snickers bar from someone and she offered it to Jack (who couldn't take it because he was wearing the Creature From the Black Lagoon costume) and it was written that she offered it to Jack because she knew she couldn't eat it because she was allergic.
Maybe she eats some chocolate later in the book that i haven't gotten to yet, but at that moment, she did not eat the chocolate.
Once again, leave it me to contradict what others have said here!!

In the original edition, Vicky ate the chocolate. Nijmeijer mentioned her allergy -- and the mistake -- when he started this thread. I gather FPW corrected it before it went into later editions.

ahhh...I see now...it all becomes clear.

Paul is a careful writer, likes to get his facts straight, and has, on occasion, asked if anyone here has found anything that needs to be corrected before a novel goes into -- lets say -- mass market paperback.
Regarding Crisscross, I bought the signed Limited Edition, so I didn't know that changes had been made . . . but I wasn't surprised when I found that they had.

[SIZE="3"]Yeah, I fixed it. I'm always glad when my readers spot goofs. Allows me to correct them in a later edition. And that was one dumb goof. Vicky's chocolate allergy was a plot point of The Tomb and I completely forgot about it.
ImDeranged recently PM'd me about a goof in the revised Borderlands Press edition of The Touch. Thanks to him that won't be in the paperback edition when it finally arrives. (No, I don't know when that will be.)[/SIZE]

That's cool, fpw. Now granted I don't know many authors (none actually...lol) but the fact that you take feeback and goof spots form your readers is totally cool. Do a lot of authors do that or do they rely on their editors? I mean, what year was The Tomb written? And what year is it now? (Honestly, I don't know...please tell me...lol)
