LOST... the 4th season - cobalt - 02-22-2008 When I saw that Kate had Aaron, I wonder if there are those that can leave the island and those that can't. There will be an explanation of the Oceanic six. Don't forget the story told at Kate's trial, only 8 survived the crash...only six left the island. Jack, Kate, Hurley, Aaron and 2 more. I think Sayed and Ben are NOT counted in this mix. Ben has amassed all this money how? 3.2 million didn't seem to phase him. I still think Ben is a major spy. He may have grown up on the island, but he's so devious, I'd believe anything of him. Then Kate stood up and interrupted him. But Jack did account for those other 2 by saying Kate tried to save them; in other words they died, leaving only the Oceanic 6, whoever they may be. Of course, it's all a pack of lies, and now I see how the upright and essentially honest Jack and Hurley have gone crazy with all the lies. Probably US because we have the largest budgets. I must admit, I did not like seeing a domesticated Locke. I much prefer him in the wild, tromping through the jungle, throwing knives and hunting boars and bear. LOST... the 4th season - Maggers - 02-22-2008 cobalt79 Wrote:.. I wonder if there are those that can leave the island and those that can't. Well, if I'm correct, all 4 of the known Oceanic 6 have seen visions on the Island, which accounts for being able to "receive" some sort of message from the Island, or Jacob or whatever. Jack - saw his dead father (who now is also showing up as a manifestation of Jacob, or so it seems) Kate - saw the horse in the jungle Sayid - along with Shannon saw Walt just before Shannon was shot Hurley - saw his imaginary friend, Dave (who may still have been imaginary but maybe not), and, most importantly, Hurley saw Jacob's cabin with Christian Shephard aka Jacob rocking and some as yet unknown eyeball peering out the window I have no idea if those things are related or have any bearing on those people being able to leave the Island, but the links among these folks are always interesting to examine. LOST... the 4th season - Maggers - 02-22-2008 I have way tooooo much time on my hands at the moment, still laid up with my knee. I love thinking about LOST. I have a ridiculous thought about possession. Is Jacob in some way related to Aaron? Aaron is the first baby born on the Island since God knows when. The Others were desperate to get hold of Aaron before he was born. Alex told Claire the Others were going to kill Claire and keep her baby. I thought back then it was just because none of the Other women could carry a baby to term. But maybe it's more than that. Suppose Jacob wants a new born body to inhabit? Could that young baby be taken off the Island, and thus, if inhabited by Jacob, then Jacob gets off the Island, too. Of course, we'd have to wonder why Jacob would want to get off the Island. First, we'd have to know what the hell Jacob is. Remember when Mr. Eko tells Claire about the meaning of the name "Aaron?" If I remember correctly, he said that Aaron was the brother of Moses. Moses, the leader of his people, was very shy and had trouble speaking publicly. Aaron often spoke for Moses. Could little baby Aaron become the public persona of Jacob, who is the leader of his people? Kate taking care of Aaron/Jacob then becomes particularly creepy, sort of like "Rosemary's Baby." It would more than explain Jack's unwillingness to go anywhere near Aaron. OK, I really have too much time to think. Except that Sayed did call himself one of the oceanic six just before he killed that guy on the golf course And at the end of the week befores episode the announcer said 'next week another oceanic six will be revealed' The anouncer however did not say it last week (that I remember) ... So is Aaron counted as one of the six? And perhaps to explain him when they were rescued they made up the story that only 8 survived meaning that Claire survived but died maybe in childbirth. I wonder who else they are saying survived then died? So I think that, yes, he is one of the Oceanic Six. Maggers Wrote:And is Kate really as morally skanky as she appeared to be in this episode? Her conversation with Jack after she was released creeped me out. She told him that until he was OK with her baby he couldn't be with her, in any way, even for coffee.I don't really understand why this necessarily makes Kate morally "skanky." Why do you assume that she stole baby Aaron from Claire somehow? We don't yet know why only six people were "allowed" to return but not the rest. I think it's quite plausible that whoever may have "allowed" those six to return picked those specific six people, including Kate, and possibly Aaron. Maybe they wanted Kate to stand trial. Maybe they wanted to continue to examine why Claire was able to give birth on the island. Your Ben/Alex comparison is interesting though; I was also struck by the scene when Claire and Kate were sitting on the porch and Sawyer came by; it reminded me of the seeming comfort of the Others and their peaceful existence (bookclubs and everything) right before the plane crashed. I thought the scene between Jack and Kate more expressed Jack's unwillingness to cope or deal with certain issues. Seeing Aaron would force him to acknowlege the events that happened instead of trying to move on with his life. Then everything gradually builds and builds until it overflows and he breaks down and reverts to alcohol (?) and drugs and finally seeks out Kate by the airport. Not that there's anything wrong with coming up with these theories, but I think that you may be making some incorrect assumtions. Or at least assumptions that are different from mine. Damn, I love this show!!! LOST... the 4th season - Maggers - 02-22-2008 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 6 magical numbers. The Oceanic 6. Any connection? Some tried to relate them to seat numbers, etc, but nothing that I saw made any real sense. I'd be very surprised if it was meaningless, however.
