Ron Eldard was in Black Hawk Down and Sleepers, among other things, but I don't know if he was "angry." That picture always impressed me aesthetically mainly, but I think Eldard could also pull off the acting. Reynolds is too BIG (height and breadth). Jack should look unimpressive. I've also thought a wiry, toned DiCaprio could pull off the role (after seeing The Departed), though he is also 6' tall.

Actors get bad roles...it happens.

DiCaprio is way (read as WAY) to handsome for Jack. If I had a choice between only Eldard and DiCaprio I'd choose Eldard, hands down, and that's not even knowing if he can play the angry half off the role.

I'll re-watch BHD (he was one of the pilots in the Blackhawk that went down, right?) and see what I think after I refresh my memory.

I remember almost nothing from Black Hawk Down, so I don't know. Eldard was also in Deep Impact and a little diamond in the rough called The Last Supper.

Auskar Wrote:Hey, it's the movies! No need to cast a character based on a discription in the novel, but... as far as I remember, Gia is a blonde. Or maybe I'm thinking of another character in another novel named Karen. Regardless, Katherine Heigl is a fine blonde.

I do believe you might be thinking of Jim Butcher's "The Dresden Files" with Karen Murphy, who in the novels, has blonde hair, but for the much too short lived sci-fi series, had black hair for reasons unknown to me. =/

If he looked slightly younger, I could imagine Clive Owen in the role as RJ..anyone's thoughts? (just have him use his american accent. lol)

Well, she fits the bill, but she doesn't look very Italian to me and she's a little old for the part (gia is a little younger than 40)...my favourite choices are still 1) Charlize Theron or 2) Kate Winslett. Both are around 33 which is almost the same age as Reynolds.

As far as a hot jack goes, being secure in my masculinity, I find Ryan Reynolds to be better looking than Ron Eldard...and he seems to exude more self confidence in his roles.

What do you think Aprilis?

Clive is a little to old at 44 (and Shoot'em Up sort of soured me on him)...but Gerard Butler (39 and scantiliy clothed in Tomb Raider 2 and 300) would be better in my opinion. Of course my favourite choice overall would be Nathan Fillion (also good looking) and only 36 years old.

hence why i said a younger clive owen. but Nathan Fillion wouldn't be too bad. have really enjoyed him in the roles he has had. Gerard Butler to ME, doesn't fit the role. maybe im wrong. love him as an actor..but.. what about David Wenham (also from 300 and lotro) he played Faramir in Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and Dilios in 300. just would need some Brown contacts. but maybe hes too pretty. i dunno. been a long day, and this is my first day on this message board. been a fan of FPW for a little over a year now, ever since my fiance handed me the Adversary Cycle, and said, "read this, or we will have a problem". Now im finishing up the RJ series. have 3 1/2 more books to go till im caught up.

EDIT- ok, just looked up some more pics of Gerard Butler, and when i think about how he looks, i just get stuck on him in the 300. but he could work the role of RJ VERY well now that ive seen him in normal clothing.

The last three books will fly by (and boy are you in for some BIG surprises!).

Sorry about the younger clive owen thing...I'm working on about 5 threads simultaneously and my fingers sometimes type faster than my brain can read.

David Wenham is a good choice. He's no prettier than Fillion, and he looks very young for 43, but his nose is a fairly prominent feature (especially from the side) so he may stand out a bit too much in a crowd...but that's me. He's certainly a better choice than Owen.

Welcome to the board, you'll have fun here.
